  • Crystal clear watch face
Color: Black Sunray / Surplus
Beautiful watch arrived on time and in flawless condition

  • functional... sorta?
Color: Black/Silver
I've been wanting to buy this watch for a while. I was reluctant about how thick and big the face was, but overall, it's not that so bad on me (I'm a big guy, big wrist, big arm, etc). Watch fit perfect on me right off the box, like it was made for me. Didn't need to adjust or anything. Initial: 1. Box was packed right in retail box, everything looked great. 2. Comes with an extra link. 3. Instruction is wrong: The bottom button starts the chrono, not the top Pro: 1. It's really well made watch. The machine work is good, and the clasp is done well. 2. Heavy watch, but for the size, it's relatively light compare to some other high end SS watches that's smaller in size. As far as how it feels on my wrist, so I guess that's a good thing? 3. Countdown bezel. This is pretty unique and very diver oriented, which I really liked. 4. Big face, big numbers, and very clear indications. Again, diver oriented watch. 5. I like the machined looked a lot better than the high polish. The high polish just looks comical and cheap. 6. Rear facing buttons. Once again, diver oriented (gloves). Plus, it's good for when you ride your motorcycle. It's comfortable this way. 7. Precise and heavy ticking on bezel. I'm split on this, but I think I like it. Again, if I was scuba diving with gloves on, this would be something that I would prefer. 8. 300 meter - Really good. 9. Looks - The design is very clean, functional, and it's made with a purpose, which I like the most. It's not really made big for the purpose of being made big, it's made to be used when diving. In that concept and execution, this is probably one of the best diving watches in the market. 10. Standard #2 spot adjust the date, which I think was done better on this watch than most watches out there. For some reason, I like how they did it. 11. It's not subtle, but it's got some subtle design elements with the light that I really like. The flat bezel face, little sparkles on the chrono bezel, and black chrono second hand. I think it's nice. 12. Solid design ques. Con: 1. Due to it's enormous size, it will look silly if you're a small figured guy. Even on big guy, the big numbers on the face is little overdone. 2. The machine on the SS could of been done a little slower. I compared this with my Tag and it looks like they rushed machining it, because if you slow machine, you shouldn't be able to see the machine marks, and it will be a lot more brighter. But for the price, it's good, I think. 3. The Chrono function buttons are screw down. This is another way they saved money on manufacturing the watch, because all the other watch I have that's 300 meter or deeper doesn't have a screw down chrono buttons/crowns. It's sort of a hassle to unscrew two screws, considering where they're placed. Also, it's not available when diving, which defeats the purpose of the countdown bezel (to see how much you have left before you have to go up. So, I guess it just comes down to fashion... 4. The edge treatment on the watch band and the watch itself could of been done better. It's little more sharper than I'd like or use to. But this is something simple I can do at home (for the price of the watch, etc.) 5. The top downward triangle doesn't line up to the "0". This drives me nuts. But I have this same problem with my other watches, except for the really high end ones. No big deal. 6. I wish they could of done some texture on the face. It just looks a bit cheap up close. 7. I wish the chrono part was a different color. 8. I wish the chrono hand was a different color. It's black, and it's beautifully done, but not really functional. 9. Glass itself isn't Sapphire. lol. But it's ok, because if it was it would of a lot more expensive. 10. No AR coating. But if you can't tell time with this watch, you don't need AR coating, you need an Optometrist. 11. No clasp extension (which they could of had). 12. Connecting rods for the watch bands are too small on the left side vs the right side. I suspect this is a QA issue. Conclusion: Good watch at a discount. Not worth the $500 retail. The Nixon 48 seem to be the perfect sized watch, so I will probably buy one later. I will review on this. ... show more

  • Beautiful watch
Color: High Polish/White
I'm not familiar with Nixon watches so I was hesitant to drop $500 on one of these but this watch is exactly what I was looking for. It's big, heavy, and makes a bold statement!

  • Nixon is the best
Color: Black / White / Gunmetal
I own quite a few Nixon watches and I'm amazed every time I unbox the next one. I've been wanting this one ever since they first announced it and grabbed it as soon as the price dropped. Couldn't be happier. Excellent quality watches

  • Be CAUTIOUS when buying directly from Jomashop.com
Color: High Polish/White
I love the look of Nixon watches, and the 51-30 Chrono is my favorite. I came across Jomashop several months ago and couldn't believe the deals they offered, but was weary of the quality of the products that I would receive since these are discounted, When my watch came, I hadn't inspected the watch for about 10 days since I had school finals and other priorities occurring. After looking at my watch closely, I realized that the silver marker at the 3 0'clock position does not line up with the silver square located on the side of the face, and is extremely crooked. I contacted Jomashop and inquired about their warranty policy and sent them three pictures of my defective watch. The customer support person that I talked to told me he did not see a defect in my watch and that it looked normal. At my dismay, I sent the exact same photos to friends and family and asked them to look at the 3 o'clock position on watch and tell me what they see, all of which responded that silver markers didn't line up. I then called someone else at Jomashop and the guy from the repairs department told me that I could just send it in and they would fix any defects. But here's the catch, as soon as you receive a product from Jomashop you are apparently held accountable for all shipping costs for repairs even if you receive a defective product. This isn't good business practice and I'm still very upset with the customer support that I received with Jomashop thus far. Until Jomashop agrees that they should cover all costs for shipping so that I can get my defective watch repaired, I will continue to talk with Amazon and hope this gets resolved, At this time, I would not buy from Jomashop until they can demonstrate a concern for customer service. UPDATE (03/13/2015) It's been over 3 months since I sent my watch back to Jomashop since they agreed to take a look to determine if my watch was in fact defective (at least this is what I was told by the manager Roee). Sent my watch in, got it back two weeks later with "repairs" that were never mentioned in my emails or by phone. Every email I personally sent including those sent through Amazon customer support never mentioned a dead battery or an issue with the chronograph (the items "repaired"). Called Roee immediately back since he was supposed to be personally looking at my watch, asked him about these mysterious repairs, and why they didn't address the issue. I was told that I didn't do a good job describing the issue, and that I was my fault! Not surprising, even though a description of the issue needed to be repaired MUST be including in the packaging that is sent in with the watch (I guess I didn't include that too?). Anyhow, after filing a complaint with the BBB, Jomashop quickly issued a pre-paid return label so that they could look at this defect again. After sending the watch back a second time, I was told by Jomashop that my defect was due to wear and tear, and that the marker "shifted" from use. On the same day that I received this email, the BBB sent me an email (dated) saying that Jomashop still hadn't received my watch and that they have sent me emails and a pre-paid label etc. etc. etc. This is all in fact true, but how can you be telling me that you company has "investigated" my claim and then ALSO tell me that you haven't received it?! Just a testament of the types of issues that I had to deal with over and over again so this wasn't surprising. Long story short, Jomashop has essentially denied answering my questions about what they actually do with defective watches whenever they accept them. At this point,I've been burned by buying a defective watch but will continue to pursue every avenue possible to get this mitigated. Not the best company to deal with at all. I encourage everyone to do a swift search through the Better Business Bureau's webstie to read up on complaints against Jomashop, and you'll be surprised at how "common" this type of situation seems to be. I will definitely never be buying a single item from Jomashop, since I'm going to end up paying more than what the watch is worth. In fact, I'm having trouble getting Amazon to help me with coverage of some sort since they only get involved with purchases that occur within 90 days. I've tried to explain to them that my most recent contact with Jomashop took over 3 months, all of which was mediated through Amazon, and that 90-days simply wouldn't work when dealing with a company that works this inefficiently. • Not for large wrists
I recently bought the Nixon 51-30 gunmetal silver. I bought this 'oversized' watch with the hopes that it would fit me, as I'm a large person (both height and weight). When I received the watch, I was unable to close the clasp, and took the watch in to my local jeweler to have the extra link added. I am still not able to wear the watch. I have called Nixon and while their customer service representatives are friendly and put in an order for another link for me, my order was later cancelled as the part I need is out of stock. I have given 3 stars as I don't believe it is fair to give the watch a 1 star rating because it doesn't fit my specific wrist. The watch itself is quality, you can tell that just from the feel. The time mechanism is exactly as accurate as you would expect for a $500 watch, and overall I think it will be a great buy for most people. However if you are like me and you are a person of larger statue, I cannot recommend the watch to you as it seems that being 'oversized' is a fashion statement with the face of the watch, but the band was not given the same thought. I would likely update to a 4 or 5 star review if Nixon was able to get me the part that I need to be able to actually wear and enjoy this watch, but for now I am stuck with a timepiece that I will either return, or will sit on a shelf waiting for parts. ... show more
