Easy to replace and VERY bright compared to OEM lamps. My only niggle is that the gaskets are only about half the thickness of the OEM gaskets. We'll see how well they keep the moisture and dirt out.

These are suitable to replace a factory license plate light on your Tacoma, however these do not come with proper gaskets - they come with foam cutouts that match the footprint, so not quite exactly the match one might expect. The thickness of the plastic is thinner than a factory part, which isn't so much of a problem - except these do not come with new rubber O-Rings for the socket plug, and unless they are new or larger thickness, the plugs do not fit snugly into these replacement assemblies. I think they are much brighter than a lot of alternatives out there, and functionally these will absolutely get the job done. They are bright, very easy to install, and look nearly identical to the original lamp assemblies. You'll likely want to re-use your original rubber gasket, so careful not to damage that when removing your existing lights. I am worried about water ingress from the plug side, while the manufacturer does claim IP67 water resistance, I feel like these will quickly take on water because of their location at the rear of the vehicle where they will be constantly subjected to water spray from the rear tires while driving. One could try to find a suitable thick o-ring to use, but I think re-designing the rear plastic side to be thicker, will allow the socket to turn and tighten firmly creating a good seal with the existing equipment. Alternatively, supplying the rear socket piece or simply making the light accept the factory harness plug would also do the trick. For the advertised price, I think these will be suitable replacements and only time will tell on if they survive the elements. I question how durable these are in terms of resistance to moisture. Note: In a pinch, one could use a dab of silicone sealant which will both seal the socket as well as hold it in place, but also be easily removed. I feel this would be moving the wrong direction in the design of the product, however.

Right, so I figured swapping out my license plate lights would be a quick and easy upgrade. Simple job, nothing to overthink. But as always, reality had other plans. First off, no instructions. Not a single diagram, not even a vague hint at how to install these. So, I pull off the stock light housing, expecting to see a standard connector. Instead, I find some mystery plug that I’ve never seen before. Confused, slightly irritated, and already questioning my life choices, I storm back inside, fully prepared to drop a one-star review and chuck these in the trash. Then I check the product page. Oh. Turns out the plug goes into the bulb socket, not the wiring harness. Back to the truck I go, reinstall everything (again), and—voila—it actually works. The Good Stuff: -Installation is easy—once you figure it out on your own. -They are BRIGHT. Like, shockingly bright for license plate lights. The stock ones look like a weak flashlight compared to these. At this point, I’m worried passing cars will think I’m reversing. -Solid build quality—I’ve used lights from this brand before, and my reverse lights have lasted 10 years with no issues. The Not-So-Good Stuff: -The connector feels loose. It fits into the bulb socket, but not as snugly as I’d like. I wouldn’t be surprised if it wiggles loose over time. -Weather resistance is questionable. These connections are completely exposed to the elements. I’ll probably need to tape or heat-shrink them just to be safe. -Did I mention NO INSTRUCTIONS? Because seriously, I shouldn’t have to guess how to install something this simple. Final Verdict: These are crazy bright, and if you want your license plate to be visible from space, they’ll definitely do the job. But between the lack of instructions, the questionable connector fit, and the potential for water exposure, they aren’t perfect. Would I recommend them? Yeah, but be ready to do a little extra work to make sure they stay in place and don’t short out in the rain.
