This is a beautiful drum. The pearl finish is very pretty and has a lot of depth to it. It takes very detailed work to create these designs from such small pieces. Besides being a well made musical instrument it is also a beautiful work of art. The finish is nice and smooth as it should be. The interior of the drum was painted black, which is a nice touch. The case that came with the drum is a nice quality case and does have some padding, although I will be very careful to avoid any bumps. The drum came already tuned and ready to play. The head is very responsive and sounds like it is evenly seated to the drum. The drum sounds and plays the way a Darbuka should. This is definitely the real deal!
