When my 4-year-old walking shoe of this brand and similar style recently lived out its life, I knew I would buy another. Like my last one, this one is also very comfortable and true to size as I have bought in the past. Although not indicated as such in the description, the outer material does appear to be suede with mesh. Although the color is lighter than my last one, I do like this color - it compliments most casual-wear. These are my favorite shoes now! I love the fit as there seems to be more room in the front than most shoes. They are so comfortable and I wear them to work as they are a neural color.

I have been wanting these shoes for a year and a half, and I waited until the weather warmed up here in Ohio to purchase these in gray and white. I highly recommend the iconic gray and white. I ordered the 9 1/2 because for some reason in athletic shoes I need a half size up. I took a star off only because I will have to purchase socks that go above the cuff. I would give these shoes a 4.5. The shoes do provide good arch support and overall comfort; however, the back cuff rubs around my Achilles tendon. I have a more narrow heel. I am hoping that as I wear the shoe, this discomfort will go away. Otherwise, I am very pleased with the look of the shoe, as well as the overall support that I expect from New Balance. I don’t know that I personally would use these for walking/exercise. They are more of a fashion shoe to wear out to run errands, attend events, etc. ... show more
