I have worn New Balance shoes for decades. There is something in the way they're designed, and they fit me better than any other brand. This particular style is primo! I've been wearing another style ofNew Balance shoes that are hook and loop, and honestly I never realized that they are slightly wide and my feet slide around in them. I had gotten used to the way they feel, until all of a sudden last week I realized, I need some new, not worn out shoes! Well, I hate tying shoelaces because it's just another waste of my time 😂 but I know you always can get a better fit with shoelaces, so I broke down and bought this pair. I'm glad I read the reviews because you absolutely need to size up 1/2 size. My shoe size has been 6.5 for eons, so I bought both sizes to compare. The 7 fit perfectly. I put them on and wore them all day today going about my daily business, and they were comfortable from beginning to end. I bought them in black, and they are so low profile that no one will even notice them on your feet let alone notice that they are shoes for walking or exercising. For the price, these shoes are pretty comfortable. I have them on now as I’m writing this review. There’s cushion padding on the outside of your feet, holding your feet steady in the shoe, if that makes sense. Not a ton of arch support, but decent. I appreciate the heel cushion support. The heel lip doesn’t come up as high as I would have hoped, but it’s okay. I got the 8.5 wide, and that’s my normal size. The toe box fits great. Keep in mind I’m trying these on around 4 pm, so I’ve been on my feet already most of the day. They aesthetically look gross coming out of the box, but once on your feet, they look nice. Like a dad shoe would. I’ve never owned new balance, I usually buy Nikes or Adidas, or Puma. But these are pretty nice for the price. I’m doing a lot of walking and needed a solid shoe that didn’t break the bank. I have pretty bad plantar fasciitis that acts up once I get out of bed, and at the end of the day if I run a lot of errands. It’s very difficult for me to find comfortable shoes that work all day long. I have a bit of extra weight on me, and these feel pretty supportive considering my weight. I’ll keep my review updated when I come back from my trip that I’ll be taking these on. Update 3.13.24: There isn’t much of a breaking period needed. I’ve worn these running errands over the past few days and they’ve been comfortable. However- the insole offers no support whatsoever for plantar fasciitis. Fear not though! You are able the take the insoles out that it comes with. I put in my plantar fasciitis inserts that I got from Amazon (highest rated one, can’t remember the name) and my feet feel MUCH better and more supported. 3.17.24: Post trip, they held up well. I was working 11 am- all day, into the next day, around 1 am/2 am. I had to be on my feet nonstop, and these worked really well. Day 2 of my 3 day trip, my feet were hurting a bit, I worked until 3 am, running errands and organizing a home. When I came home I had to massage my heels the most. Day 3 my feet were doing well during the day, and in the evening around 9 pm they started hurting again. When I got to my hotel I took Aleve and I iced my heels.     • Comfortable shoes but runs small
I put these shoes on and they were comfortable right away. I had to go a half a size up though because they run small . I was disappointed with the new balance running shoes that I bought previously because the netting on the side wore through very quickly. That's never happened before. But these are all leather. No chance of that happening. If you're looking for a durable walking shoe with great support then you would enjoy these shoes. ... show more

The above picture are my older ones that got too dirty! My first New Balance walking shoes I bought at an Academy Sports store in the Houston area, and they fit perfectly from day one. Then we moved to the Texas Hill Country. Then I bought a pair of 493V3 ones-that have a lot of fabric to them, and they also fit perfectly, and I still have those-although they have a hole in a toe from using a toe separator for a time that was too wide. Then I ordered the New Balance 411V1 on Sept. 14, 2021 and they also fit perfectly, and I still wear them and have them on now, but there’s a lot of dirt out at our new house, and they’ve gotten dirty, and cleaned them, but this dirt just doesn’t get completely out! SO..I wanted a brand new pair that I would never go outside in! (I’ve always ordered white ones). BUT these are the first ones that seemed too small in the toe area, and by the middle of the day they hurt my toes so bad that I had to take them off and wear my older shoes. I gave them plenty of chances-although all my other New Balance shoes NEVER hurt any part of my feet-EVER!! So I’ve already returned them, and ordered another pair. Will send an update on those when I get them. By the way, my shoe size is 6 1/2 medium in all of them. Even the ones that I’ve returned. UPDATE: I ordered another pair in 6 1/2 medium- thinking that the first ones were just mis-sized. They also were too narrow in the toes, so I returned them, and that time I requested a 6 1/2 wide. They fit perfect, just like my older ones! Wish I would’ve taken a picture of the narrow ones next to my old ones. My guess is that they’ve started making these shoes narrow in the toe area lately. The shoes are everything I expect from New Balance. Good quality. I only bought these (411 V1) due to another customer commented that she usually buy model 411 because she was short. . . .everywhere, including her ankles. and How the tongue on these where shorter. I too am short, 4'11 & 3/4 (I just say 5 feet) 136 pounds. I Wondered why the other New Balance I wore, that I was constantly readjusting the leather tongue. I put these on today and wore them from 9:00am until 4 pm, the insole says Ultra soft, COMFORT INSERT. And they truly are. My feet didn't feel that hard insole insert that are fitted in other New Balance shoes. My feet were comfortable all day long. I always use that last hole, many don't use, See Photo, it keeps the shoes from slipping. They fit better due to the leather tongue is shorter and don't go beyond where it rubs against the top of the foot. I'm glad I found another customer review.
