New Balance has been my brand of choice for a long time. If you don't mind a heavy shoe and need stability, durability, and control, this is a wonderful pick. The deep and wide toe box is a plus for comfort. They do weigh about 1.25 lb more than my Brooks tennis shoes and sometimes feel heavy by the end of a long day. But after a few days in the Brooks, I have to return to my New Balance for comfort and support. If you need to wear orthotics, this shoe will accommodate them well. Shoes didn’t last a month before the top of one got hole in it. I work in a lab and on my feet quite a bit. They were very heavy on my feet as well. Very disappointment with New Balance on these shoes.

    • Perfect walking shoe
I am on at least my fifth pair of these shoes. I walk 10K steps every day and have had a broken toe, so I like to switch out my shoes every 6 months. My podiatrist recommended these shoes. They do not wear out on the outside, but I replace them often for maximum cushion inside. I donate the old pairs. In the summer, I do not wear socks and the shoes breathe well. Okay so this is the problem the actual title of the sale said 990 the pictures are wrong with the made in USA logo on the tag but it’s a 5 series shoe that looks a lot like a 990V4 but it’s not. I thought this was a child’s 990 on a deal but it’s not at all. They ended up fitting well and my wife wears them but I was disappointed that these were not what was advertised. 5 stars for what it is 1 star for having all the information wrong. ... show more
