Description

Max cushioning was once considered a curiosity, limited to specialized fields like ultramarathoning. Now, with its benefits recognized across a wider population of runners, max cushioning is here to stay. With the Fresh Foam More, New Balance applies their signature performance technology to an ultra- cushioned silhouette. The latest in the series, the Fresh Foam X More v4 combines the most Fresh Foam X put into a midsole to date with the smoother foot strike transitions of the largest rocker in the Fresh Foam range, a wider platform for balance between cushioning and support, and lightweight breathable upper construction. The Fresh Foam X More v4 is a total comfort experience.

  • My NEW Favorite Shoe
Size: 11.5 Color: Mercury Blue/Dark Silver Metallic
First off, I'm a shoe nerd. I admit it. Growing up my Dad would buy us only 𝙏𝙃𝙀 cheapest shoes he could find. They were so bad that we'd wear them out in a couple of months and I should be honest, I am not hard on my shoes, either (my older brother was a different story). Didn't make a difference. My Dad would rather buy us a pair of new shoes for $20 every couple months rather than spend $35 on ONE pair that would last at least a year (if not more). As a result, when I finally got a job and could buy my own, I had quite a collection. A habit I continue to this day. With that in mind, within the last year I've purchased 2 other pairs of New Balance trail running shoes which were (at that time) the most comfortable pairs of shoes I had ever purchased. Since then I bought a pair of Brooks Ghost Max which replaced those as the most comfortable pair of shoes I had ever owned. The Fresh Foam X have now replaced (by a slim margin) my Brooks for sheer comfort. I don't really run, but I DO an awful lot of hiking and walking. So strict comfort is pretty important to me. These shoes are simply brilliant in how comfortable they are. The previously mentioned New Balance Trail runners were, for a lack of a better term, had almost too much cushion. I know, how can a shoe have TOO much cushion? Well, those do...at least for me. For instance, I would never wear them for weight training, especially doing the dead lift. The cushion is SO pronounced that I'd be worried they could pull me off balance a little too easily. But then again, they aren't designed for weight lifting, so just keep that in mind. The Foam X shoes are a perfect balance between great cushion and sheer comfort. It must be hard for companies to achieve that balance without going too far but Kudo's to NB for pulling it off. The soles aren't as durable as the trail runners perhaps, but oh man are they a joy to wear. Again, since I don't run I cannot speak to how stable they'd be at doing any long/short distance running but man am I happy with mine. Overall 𝙏𝙃𝙀 most comfortable shoes I own (and I own a LOT). I am VERY satisfied with my purchase. ... show more

  • Awesome For Walking and Every Day Use
Size: 11.5 Color: Summer Aqua/Black/Hot Marigold
First off, I’m a heavy-ish runner, 190lbs- so take this review from that standpoint. My initial step in reaction was β€œwow” they are SO cushy and comfortable. The footbed, heel collar, and tongue are all extremely comfortable. They have a really nice glove like fit (true to size). However, as cushy as they are they are also mushy feeling when running. As a heavy runner I feel like I often bottom out on my strides in these shoes. The cushion is GREAT, but the energy return is nonexistent. Overall I really enjoy these shoes for walking around and all day comfort. However, I don’t love them for running as I feel they lack the bounce that I desire. ... show more

  • Not for flat feet
I can't knock the product itself but caused a lot of ankle pain for me. I have flat feet, fallen arches, whatever you want to call it. I overpronate quite a bit given this issue. I've two pair of 1080 v12s and a pair of hierro 7s that I love. I tried to like these and contemplated keeping them in the first place until they started to really hurt my feet/ankles. They are very soft and made me feel a bit clumsy, like walking on squishy platforms. I planned to look past this as I'm sure it would improve as I broke them in and smashed down the foam some. However after a few weeks of light use, my good ankle began to hurt quite a lot. I assume all the cushion allows your foot to flex inward even more straining the ligaments that support your arch. These even felt like they left your foot in a back and outward position that would help prevent this but it didn't. Just too soft. Great shoe if you have normal feet and want a ton of cushion but not a wise choice for flat footers in my opinion. Returned. ... show more

  • Cushion for miles. I have plantar fascia and I tested these 10 shoes for cushion
I ordered the following shoes that were recommended in running shoes articles as having allot of cushion in the heel. New Balance Fresh Foam X More - Has the most cushioning out of all the shoes tested. They are almost to much cushion. I'm not sure about running on them yet as I'm healing from the injury. They are my favorite for walking. Asics Gel Kayano 28 - Very soft heel and it would do the job. Built for a runner (sleek). front of sole is a little thin when compared to the New Blance Fresh Foam X More but it's good for a runner. ALL OF THE FOLLOWING WERE NOT ENOUGH CUSHION: Brooks Glycerin 20's - Not enough cushion Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 - Not enough cushion Hoka Bondi 8 - Not enough cushion Hoka Gavoloti 4 & 5 - Not enough cushion Brooks Ghost 15 - Not enough cushion ASICS Novablast 3 - Not enough cushion On Cloudmonster - Not enough cushion Hopefully this saves you from ordering 10 pairs of shoes like I did. For my plantar fascia injury I selected New Balance Fresh Foam X More and the Asics Gel Kayano 28 New Balance has an insane amount of cushion (maybe to much) for some. Asics Gel Kanyano 28 has the cushion gell heel and is sleek for a runner. I kept BOTH ... show more
