I have been using these sneakers almost every day for 6 months, they still look brand new, they give great support for the foot and are very durable and look great. I would give them 10 stars if I could. They are not cheap but you are paying for better quality, and it's worth the extra money.

I love that it is Made in USA, but disappointed that materials may not be made in USA. Sensitive to dyes from other countries, it's hard to find products that aren't going to cause allergic reactions. I purchased this for someone as a gift. I myself have continuously worn and replaced 990s for more than 15 years, and this one (men's 990v6) did not disappoint. It's different from other New Balance models as far as comfort and feel. I like the breathable mesh where the toe areas are, which accommodate the foot movements so that there is no feeling of being too snug. This is the only shoe that I know of that allows for ordering in wide or extra wide if one needs it. It is expensive in my opinion, but the shoe lasts a long time. I wouldn't say it is water resistant and I wouldn't try to wash these with water. It will discolor the suede. I also like that they are lightweight, but at the same time provide support. I do place a shoe insert inside. That's the way I wear these. ... show more

Excellent shoe. Great cushioning, as well as stabilization. I wear a 6E width, since I need a lot of toe room due to a bunion. These give me plenty of room. They are very comfortable for walking outdoors, as well as for running on the treadmill. I wore the 1540 v3 (and, before that, the v2) for years. I do not like the 1540 v4. If you liked the 1540 V3, you will probably like these a lot, as I do. ... show more

New Balance ‘Made in USA’ series has always been great quality over the years. Unfortunately, this model runs to narrow for my feet (even when I tried x-wide) so I had to return them and went with the old school 993s instead. NB is great but this model doesn’t work well for me.

⚠️ Great heel comfort, but a hazard for your toes (Watch out for your metatarsals) Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2 out of 5 stars) I am writing this review to warn other buyers, as we are talking about a pair of sneakers that cost over $200, and you expect absolute perfection for that price. I've been a New Balance user for a while, but the redesign of these 990v6 has a serious geometry flaw that ended up causing me discomfort in the sole of my foot. Previous versions (like the v4 or v5) were famous for their wide toe box and stability. However, in this v6, they changed the mold: they made the front noticeably narrower, sharper, and longer. As a result, when you walk, your middle toes get squeezed horizontally. To make matters worse, the new FuelCell foam in the sole is overly soft at the front, and the heel is higher (higher drop). This shifts your entire body weight forward, causing the ball of your foot to sink in with every step. After just a few days of wearing them, I started feeling a constant discomfort right under my middle toes—a pressure sensation identical to the onset of a Morton's Neuroma (like having a bunched-up sock or an invisible pebble under your foot). In short: It is unacceptable for a premium-priced shoe designed for daily comfort to cause this type of nerve issue just for the sake of aesthetics. If you have normal to wide feet, avoid the standard width (D) at all costs because it will compress the nerves in your feet. If you still want them, you are forced to go with the Wide (2E) version or look at another model. For this kind of money, it is not worth risking your foot health. ... show more

Liked the pair I got for walking so much that I bought a second pair for use as 'slippers' in the house. The support is fantastic, and the toe box and heel box really make my feet stable on any terrain. Size was as ordered. Color is a little 'old man' like, but my kids tell me they look good. To make 'slippers' I just tied them a little loose, then stuck the tongue up between the 2nd and 3rd laces. They slip on and still offer the same support. ... show more
