I have always liked the 990 series, but recently, they have stopped making them in "all black" for some reason. These are great shoes, but expensive. The fact they are made in the USA is "one" of the primary reasons for purchasing them. This had a major impact on my purchase, but not the only reason. They are very comfortable. I do a lot of walking (15K steps a day) in my line of work, so I need a shoe I can depend on, and these fit the bill perfectly. My only gripe, that needs to seriously be addressed by New Balance, is the fact they have stopped making them in all black. Again, in my line of work, It is required that we wear black shoes (it looks more professional with our uniforms), and any reflective silver or grey insignias look out of place. Recently, I had not choice but to purchase the black/silver combination of the 990 V5, as the all black version is not currently being sold. I really like the 990 series (on my 4th purchase), but If I cannot purchase the all black series on my next time around (approx next year), i will, sadly, have to look elsewhere, which probably means a shoes made in China. Highly recommended!! New Balance, Please reintroduce the "All black" 990

I have worn the various iterations of the NB 990 shoes for decades, even as they have become increasingly expensive. I wear them more than everything else in my closet combined. Fit well, good support, last probably as long as this type of shoe would be expected to last. I move the older shoes down to workshop, yard, eventually trash as they deteriorate. Excellent.

Bought these shoes for a trip with a ton of walking. Got them weeks in advance in order to break them in and ensure they're a good fit, but I think I would've been fine buying them the day of the trip - they were comfortable from Day 1. If I had any sort of complaint, it would be that the tongues would often slide off slightly to the side, but even then this didn't impact comfort.

990s Hands down the greatest sneaker you ever wear. I love the fact that New balance makes these sneakers in the USA . You could tell the quality is superior. There is no break in time, slept these babies on and go. Nothing like a well made sneaker. New balance has knocked All 990s out the park.
