Newbalance makes comfortable shoes but the important thing is that they make wide ones. I found this in 5E. That width makes them especially comfortable for me. Well made and very comfortable. I hope the last because they ain't cheap!

This is an excellent shoe, it has a tad of extra strap near the big toe, which I like, since that is where the previous version developed a hole for me. Every time New Balance changes its model a bit, some people find problems and post them. I think you should ignore them; this is a great walking/jogging/running shoe, just like previous versions of the 990. It's made in the USA, which is great, no matter what your political view. Upgrading from some well-worn NB 410-V5 to the "Made USA" 990-V6. On the first wear they feel comfortable & springy in the heel. We'll see how they break-in over the next few weeks. I have used inserts in all of my sneakers, NB included. Wondering if these 990 will need inserts too. Note: they run large. Over the years my NB sneaker size has been 11.5 4E. For the 990-V6 it is a size 10 4E. In comparing the 410 to 990, the heel to toe of the size11.5 to size10 is approximately the same length. ... show more

IF YOU HAVE AN NB LOGO ON YOUR HEEL MANUFACTURING WAS STOPPED APRIL 2023. IF YOU HAVE AN AMERICAN FLAG ON THE BACK OF THE HEEL THEN THEY ARE THE NEWEST V6 AND WE'RE MANUFACTURED AFTER APRIL 2023. NEW BALANCE HAS INFORMED ME THE SNEAKERS THAT I HAVE MOST LIKELY SAT IN A WAREHOUSE FOR UP TO 2 YEARS. DURING THAT TIME BEING EXPOSED TO EXTREME HEAT AND EXTREME COLD. HOW LONG DO YOU THINK THEY'LL LAST WALKING IN THE TEMPERATURES OF ST PETE FLORIDA. THE BLUE ONES WERE GREAT FIT PERFECT HOWEVER WHEN I PURCHASED A PAIR OF GRAY THEY HAD THE AMERICAN FLAG LOGO ON THE BACK OF THE HEEL ON THE WEBSITE. HOWEVER, THE ONES THAT ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE HAD THE NB LOGO. I AM GOING TO DONATE THESE TO A VETERAN AT THE VA HOSPITAL NEAR ME THAT HAS LESS THAN 1 YEAR TO LIVE.
