  • Excellent value
Size: 10 Color: Cayenne/Kombu
I have been a Hoka fan for a couple of years. I didn't like the look of the x1080 freshfoam then I saw these. Just got them today and no break necessary. Fit true to size. I have a narrow foot with a high arch and these were very comfortable to walk in. A little bouncy at first and they make a crunchy noise when you walk but after a little bit you don't notice. The cayenne color wasn't my first choice but for 60 less I took a chance. They look great and didn't get dirty out and about. Buy this! ... show more

  • ❤️ love these squishy shoes!
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Cayenne/Kombu
These shoes are awesome. Most cushion I’ve ever worn, big difference from the first version of these shoes (I owned). This is the time I’ve felt like I’m walking on a cloud. I keep shifting foot to foot, just to squish the midsole for fun. Big rocker feel, so there’re best worn when ur moving. I like the orange color tops. The all white cushioned midsole is huge. It looks a little odd at first and will make u stand out. The other colorways hide the thick midsole with two colors, which I’d recommend if u want to stay subtle. Being wide though, these huge shoes stand out more then the standard narrow. That said, single-wide is so much more comfortable. ... show more

  • These Are Absurdly Comfortable
Ever since Hoka began to make soles of running shoes crazy thick (at least I can't think of a shoe manufacturer that did it quite that thick til after Hoka began doing it), I've noticed a lot of companies follow suit and began to make some running shoes that have an almost ridiculously thick sole that make walking and especially running an absolute joy. These Fresh Foam X Trail shoes are no different. The soles are crazy thick and probably add an additional 2" to my height (which I am perfectly okay with) and man are they comfortable. The cushion is almost too pronounced - though, not for me. If you are familiar with soles being much less sponge-like, well they're going to take a bit to get used to...but I wouldn't consider that a negative at all. Any time a pair of shoes has comfort to this degree, it's worth whatever it takes to get used to. The bottom tread is great for trails, too. I mean, they ARE trail running shoes so that really ought to be a given, but I have seen plenty of so-called trail running shoes with almost no change in the tread for off road running and that's a shame. The however, rise to the occasion and delivered some great tread wearing soles for almost any conditions. In all the photos I've seen the shoes look yellow (or at least 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙡𝙮 yellow) coloring, but seeing them in person I've noticed they are far more orange in color than yellow and boy do they stand out. If you want shoes to blend in, try a different color, otherwise I think they look wicked cool. Not everyone likes their shoes as vibrantly colored as I do so that is definitely a personal preference. What I think everyone will agree on however is that they are just absurdly comfortable. In the very best way I can mean that. I will certainly not hesitate getting another pair down the road. ***UPDATE*** To give you an idea of how much I love these shoes, I bought another pair (tan/green) less than 2 months after buying my first pair. I don't think I have ever done that with a pair of shoes before made by ANY other manufacturer. At this point, they are - easily - the 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned...and not by a small amount, either. My ONLY complaint is not for these, but the original pair I bought. The photos show it as yellow, but I can assure you, they are ORANGE, and honestly, I am not a fan of that particular color scheme. They really ought to ditch it and release an actual yellow pair which matches the photos here online...that would be a much better looking shoe to wear...but seriously, I cannot imagine a pair of shoes being much - if any - more comfortable. The soles look thick - and in truth, they ARE. And boy does that translate to your feet. If you spend a lot of time on your feet, trust me when I say these are the shoes for you. Once again, KUDOS to New Balance. ... show more

  • Tread is great. Not at all waterproof. Insert is garbage. Come esssentially broken in.
Size: 13 X-Wide Color: Butterscotch/Deep Sea/Great Plains
I bought these in advance of a trip to Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. I've owned at least 7 pairs of new balance trail shoes. These have a lot of cushion. I broke them in maybe 4 miles before the trip - but with most NB shoes, they don't need much break in. After 40+ miles of hiking in these two parks I can say - they are definitely not waterproof. The slightest wetness and your sock is wet. They have a great tread - I had no slips, no falls - and I am prone to fall. The insert is garbage - It started to slip up the heel after about 15 miles. Had to use athletic tape I keep in my pack for hot spots to tape it in place. Will need to replace it. Style is fine. Would really love an NB hiking show that is waterproof and comes in XW. They used to have some great ones. ... show more

  • Love these
PERFORMANCE: I am big guy and carrying a lot of extra weight right now ( over 300 lbs) -- so these are awesome for me. My first adventure was a quick hike on a wet day with relatively steep up/down hills and they rock. They are BETTER than the Merrell MOABs I have been wearing for the past 15 years: more comfortable, more "springy" and cushioned, and these soles are aggressive. They dug into the mud with precision and the tall-and-chunky ( like me ) mid-soles kept me out of any standing water. I like it a lot. FITMENT: I have been wearing NB 11.5 4E ( old M587), and Merrell MOABs in 11.5 4E for decades-- and I could easily have gone to 12 4E in these shoes, BUT the shoe's material does stretch and is acceptable. It's a snug athletic fit which is tight in front and will prevent any toe snags on roots/ rocks- which is exacty what I was after. Overall I'm thrilled. ... show more

  • My need met!
Size: 13 Wide Color: Raincloud/Quarry Blue/Infield Clay
I have a natural wide feet, hence getting comfortable wide-feet variants with good support is hard to find for me. But after receiving my order, it was a perfect fit me and I love the foam support for my feet.

  • So tall they fall to one side or the other depending on how you stand.
Size: 8.5 X-Wide Color: Raincloud/Quarry Blue/Infield Clay
They were great for about 3 weeks , then I started noticing I ONLY stand on one side. My other shoes haven’t worn that way. I think the tall shoe made my feet slide. Needles to say this stressed my leg and created pain
