I held off bit before reviewing these sneakers as I wanted to try them out thoroughly due to the high price. I've walked about 40 miles on pavement in them so far and am well pleased. I can definitely state that lessor quality shoes would already be showing some wear on the bottom. The New Balance logo on the sole bottom is still unworn to any degree which bodes well for the life expectancy of the tread. The shoes are easy on my feet and leg joints. I'm planning on a second pair soon as I like them so much.

I've been wearing the US made 990 since it was first introduced in 1982. It may be the only thing I have in common with Steve Jobs (other than we both like Apple products). I always keep at least one new pair in reserve against the day that they: (1) announce its retirement; (2) poorly redesign or "improve" it; (3) begin to manufacture it in a Far Off Land using inferior materials and workmanship. They have been faithful to keep it whole for three decades and I hope that they continue to do so. I have a B width foot and this is the best fit I have ever had in any shoe. My 70 year old knees won't let me run anymore, but I use them on the elliptical and for daily wear. Luxurious. Treat yourself.

The shoes are very comfortable. A little pricy, but I decided to buy shoes made in the USA. The only problem I had was not with the shoes, but with the shipping. They came in the shoe box - no outer box, not even any tape to hold the box top on. I cannot understand, at all, how the shoes made it all the way from California to Mississippi without even tape to hold the top on. There was no evidence that the shoe box had ever been taped close. A real mystery!

These are absolutely super comfortable when you eventually get to the right size. I had to go through a few pairs before I decided to try wide which I never wear but they fit awesomely. Nice quality shoe though I probably wouldn’t pay $184 and I didn’t.

These shoes are the best. I am loyal to the brand, but really 990s. Fit great, super comfortable, always perform. Only downside is the mesh on the toe wears out before the rest of the shoe.
