These are great beginner ice skates for a family who is looking for their kids to grow with the skates. Because they can adjust to multiple sizes, depending when you buy them for your child, you can get a couple years out of them. These are probably the greatest most awesome adjustable skates that I have ever had. My daughter wanted them because they reminded her of the movie frozen in the design. They use laces, a velcro strap, and a ratcheting plastic strap so they feel super secure. The loop on the back was great when I put them on my daughter because it made sure that they fit perfectly at the heel of the boot as well. The boot is thick with a good amount of padding and the best part is the ankle support it provides. I know when I was a kid that was why I hated skating because my ankles always hurt so bad afterwards. The size is easily changed as well with just one simple back button. These are probably the nicest adjustable ice skates that I have ever seen. As is typical with these, they use laces, a Velcro strap, and a ratcheting plastic strap. It has a loop on the back for pulling the heel on which I have never seen before but is a great feature. The boot is thick and has ample padding. The ankle area is strong for those learning to skate. The blades look good. The size is easily changed with a button on the back which makes the plastic outer shell longer. The boot can then expand. Originally, I ordered the size Medium for my 6 year old daughter. When it arrived, I discovered it was way too big for my daughter but fits perfectly for my wife who is a size 5.5!! These skates do not arrive sharpened. There is a button that allows the shoe to extend a tiny bit in case your foot is still growing. Inside padding feels solid with 2 plastic straps to secure the foot in place after it’s laced up. Overall, I like this pair of skates. ... show more

These skates arrive in a very non-descript, unexciting box without any special interior wow-factor. Kind of disappointing if you purchased them as a gift. You do get a basic instruction manual (pamphlet), a few extra screws and Allyn wrenches. The exterior of the skates looks sharp and well built. They adjust for size fairly easily with the push of a button and pulling forward on the skate front. This feature allows for multi season use for growing kids, a huge plus! Good fit is a three pronged approach with laces, a velcro ankle buckle and an adjustable ratchet buckle. Unfortunately, the interior is not as great. The lining is not removable and only extends mid sole on the foot bottom. This causes an abrupt transition to a very thin lining with no padding under the ball of the foot. A child will need to wear well cushioned socks to feel comfortable. And the inability to remove the lining for airing out and drying could be an issue. Overall, however, this is a decent pair of beginning skates and should provide a few years of use. ... show more
