The Theo Bookcase checks all the boxes for me. I shopped and compared a dozen different "ladder" syle, wall-mounted bookshelves before choosing this one. I liked this one because it has 6 shelves, compared to five shelves on most. It is 30" wide compared to 23" wide (or less) on most shelves offered. The most important feature I needed was the ability to clear the baseboard heating unit, which it does easily by 3"-4". I got this for our small vacation home that doesn't have a lot of extra space to place furniture, but I MUST have a place to keep my books! And because the few available spaces have the baseboard heat I want to be careful what I put in front of them. This shelf unit fits the available space perfectly and feels very secure with the frame screwed into the wall at the top. I also really like the all-white unit as it blends in with the white wall, making a cleaner uncluttered look. The finish on the shelves is very smooth and nice (and no worries, the plant on the top shelf has a padded mat under it!) The box is heavy so it helps to have two people to lift and carry it. After that the assembly can easily be done by one person and is very simple and straightforward. You might want two people again at the wall mounting stage so that one person can hold the unit in place while the other checks the level and marks for the wall screws, and then holds it in place for screwing in the brackets. This is the third 6 shelf unit I have purchased and they are great. I'm not sure the shelves hold as much as they say, but they work for what I need. What impressed me most is the company's outstanding customer service. I had a missing part with one unit and they replaced it right away and even sent an apology gift to me. Not to be dramatic or anything, but this bookcase is absolutely everything I wanted. We got one originally from At Home for $125 and it took up too much real estate on the wall- ended up taking away from the room instead of adding to it. I was a little weary to spend over $200 for this bookshelf but seeing it everyday makes me so happy! I love it. As for assembly, I don't really know, my boyfriend did it all but he didn't complain so it must not be that bad! ;) ... show more

This was exactly what I was hoping it would be. Really sturdy and great quality! Turned out fabulous and I highly recommend!!! Fairly easy to put together. Took me maybe less then an hour by myself to build and then took my husband just a few minutes to attach to the wall.

I used these in a very small master bathroom remodel. I wanted shelving that was deep enough for baskets to hide items and display items to make them attractive. The only disappointment was that the pics look the the brass is brushed and it's not it's painted but still worked well in the space.
