I had to return the item because there was a chip on the side, and rather than give an option for replacement it just had an option to return. That being said, the item was pretty sturdy, and the easiest desk to put together! The entire top piece is put together. It looked nice in the space! I really like the design but feel its cheaply made. I have a few Nathan James pieces and are super happy with. I have the Nathan James nightstands which I thought the color would match the desk, both say 'acacia' but colors don't even come close to matching. The night stands are great and the quality was nice so I expected more from them. There are also several dings that were clearly in the manufacturing process. Defiantly not worth paying $250+, really disappointed. It looks like to me many companies us the same manufacture but put their name on it. I would keep it but for what I paid I will see if there is anything else better out there. ... show more

I needed a desk that was small enough to fit in my studio apartment, but large enough to accommodate my personal computer (iMac) and my work laptop. I also wanted a desk with a drawer that didn't open out straight into my stomach. This desk fits all those criteria, and it looks nice (I'm not a fan of white melamine). I can tuck my iMac keyboard and trackpad away in the cubby space when I'm not working to keep the cats from turning my computer on at 2:00 in the morning. My only complaint is the finishing of the veneer on the front edges. Especially underneath the front bottom edge, the veneer is badly finished and I've gotten several splinters in my fingers and thighs. I took to it with some fine grit sandpaper and that seems to have helped, but a tad bit more effort during manufacture would have spared me several dates with my tweezers. That said, the assembly couldn't have been easier. Step 1: remove from box and packaging. Step 2: screw in the legs. Step 3: place desk and enjoy. I'd honestly rate it at 4.5, but Amazon only allows whole stars and the splinter thing was annoying enough to make the desk not 5-star worthy. ... show more

I purchased this desk since I am working from home for the foreseeable future. I had been using our dinning room table. I needed something to for my laptop and another monitor to create a similar set up I have at work. This desk is just the right size and also has space to put desk items or a notepad. My original desk came with very noticeable scratches, but Nathan James sent me another one very quickly and continued to follow up with me to ensure everything worked out. They have superb customer service and I would recommend their products to anyone! UPDATE: Finally put together the replacement desk sent and boy must I say the instructions are not very clear! I didn't have the pleasure of putting together my first desk. You do get confused early on because the big flat pieces used for the top and bottom aren't labeled so it's hard to figure which side the holes are supposed to be facing. Once we figured that out one of the side desk pieces cracked because it's particle board. Well, we ended up using the side piece from the old scratched desk and thankfully that part wasn't scratched, but it was a pain to take a part to get to the side piece. So instructions could be a lot more clearer and desk tools and pieces could be a lot sturdier. I took away one star for this. ... show more
