  • This book is good for learning! Has audio app This book is good for learning! Has audio app
Format: Paperback
I am mid-beginner and can read, write, and listen to simple stories. I can also respond in basic Korean. But I need to improve my vocab. This book seems like what I wanted for the method I am learning. It starts with basic grammar explanations (12 pages front to back) on conjuction, irregular verbs, counters, Korean and sino numbers (for telling time), modifiers, particles, present, tense, future, passive voices and more. Each day starts with an English story with unconjugated Korean words. Next, there is the 10 listed words defined with extra vocab and context. Then the last page for that day has a review section with the same story, but this time in full Korean. Ever 10 days there is a quiz with some pictures. In the back there are antonyms, answer key, and an index. There is also audio for the book at TTMIk audio. This book is very well put together. Sn: Continual exposure is more important than memorizing. This is how I have learned the Korean I know so far. So even if you can't remember anything at first, that's ok. I encourage to continually and consistently reread through after 50 days are up to gain more exposure and that is how you'll grow in the language. 화이팅!!! ... show more

  • Best language learning textbook I ever tried
Format: Paperback
This is honestly the best language-learning textbook I ever found. It's great for self-learning. Now, you should know some basic Korean grammar and how to read Hangul. Other then that, it is great for beginners. The book is broken into 50 days, and each day it gives you 10 words. What makes the book amazing, is that you get a short story using the 10-words. That makes it super easy to memorize the words. Honestly, it's been a real struggle to get Korean words to stick in my head, and this book managed to make it easy. When I want to review a previous day's words, I just go back and read the story, and it all comes right back. ... show more

  • Simple, Fun, and Helpful
Format: Paperback
This book has so much information inside. Not only does it give you 10 new words to study over a 50 day period it also gives you antonyms, verb conjugation, and a break down on the different politeness levels of speech. It also lists the different types of verbs used in the book (하다, irregular ㅂ, adverbs, etc) and the grammar points. You'll want to learn the Korean alphabet BEFORE reading this book because it doesn't go over it. If you already have some knowledge of the language then this should be a fun book to go through. I'm on day 18 and this is the most fun I've had reading a language textbook. Each "day" or lesson comes with the ten words being broken down by definition, phrases the words are used in, and antonyms. The new words are written in short paragraph in Korean and are followed by a crossword, word match, and fill in the blank. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to expand their Korean vocabulary. But please, please, please, learn how to read and write Hanguel first! ... show more

  • Just what I needed
Format: Paperback
Using the introduction section of this book, I am finally starting to understand a little Korean grammar. There are so many words, way more than 10 per day. First 10 words, and then variations on each word. I can't learn that many words in a day. However, I am very happy I bought it. I also bought another book from TTMIK and I like them both very much. ... show more
