The axle shaft is stout and pretty well balanced, close to zero runout and even after using it as a hook point a couple times to winch it into the back of the track before I fabbed up a tow point. As a whole, it worked The annoying bits Finding wheels for this 4x110 hub is maddening, I ended up just buying spacer adapters and using the wheels from my yfz450. The bore and bolt pattern for the sprocket is also the Chinese red headed step child. I couldn't use the stock sprocket and 530 chain cause you are not going to find that combo for a 30-40 series torque converter, or at least not easily. So I ended up having to get the #420 sprocket I needed, weld up the bolt holes, drill new holes, and line bore out the center to fit the axle. The pillow blocks seemed stout but they came out of the box crooked...bearings not pressed correctly. They have self clearanced themselves and holding together for 3 weeks now but they will fail prematurely. The brake rotor is fine, but the caliper is so severely undersized it is only contacting 30-40% of the pad surface on the rotor. Also, throw those gimmicky brass and rubber banjo fitting washers away and use the tried and true copper washers. All in all, it works as a proof of concept for whatever your building and is something you can use now and improve upon as you go ... show more

if i knew prior to purchasing how hard it would be to upgrade go-kart using this kit, i would have purchased a better kit. I am not happy with the purchase and contemplating on returning due to lack of compatibility. it says go kart kit... but far from being for go-kart... maybe golfcart. It lacks dimensions of all parts. I had to find another kit identical with tires to get the bolt pattern for this. I also had to pull out the micrometer to confirm. spindle dimensions are off the wall sizes: center hub is 90mm inside to inside bolt pattern is 110mm center to center across bolt holes are 78mm apart center to center adjacent hole the pillow blocks are 640 mm apart inside-to-inside this is way wider than the go-kart i have. finding the wheels that fit the spindles is like finding a needle in a haystack. the kit i bought lacked the specifications. i figure it would be slight modifications, but having to modify every part to fit was not in my plan or budget when they run the same price. A set of tires that come close to sizes of spindles range over $100. i figured this kit would work with most harbor frieght parts. As in their $8 tires and rims with 4 bolt pattern. This is not the case. I will have to buy and modify several parts just to make this work... Beware, this kit is in its own class... i'd find one that comes with the wheels or find one that provides more specifications and dimensions! It's not worth the amount I paid for it. I have not been able to install it due to the issue with rims. It feels more like a quad axle instead of a go-kart. My gut said to buy an axle and pillow blocks from home depot for half the price. I thought a solid axle would be better. Comes with the places to mount sprocket and brake rotor. I should have stuck with my original plan. Project: is to Convert 212cc predator go kart single driven tire to live axle. Update: Seller sent the right parts after finding out there was a problem. Great to work with and quick to fix the issue. Original Post: The axle and gear work great, but my son said the brakes were very squishy and not working right. I checked the brake caliper and found the retention pin was about to fall out and a pad was missing. There was nothing holding the pin from backing out. Either I am missing a part or it’s a poor design. ... show more
