First - When finished this desk is very well built and designed very nicely. Gives you a lot of surface area, not just for your devices but for writing and working on other projects. More importantly, was how the box arrived. It looked like it had been through a war. It had all of the parts loose inside the box. The Styrofoam was all broken up and the plastic corner protectors for the desktop were off. Luckily upon inspection all the parts were there. The problem was there were chips in the veneer on four of the wooden desk corners, I decided to assemble the desk anyway and deal with the chipping after I saw how it looked. Assembly wasn't too bad. A little tedious and the instructions aren't well written, but I got through it. The desk is very nice and works great in the space I have. I left the monitor shelf off because I didn't need it. I touched up the chips with furniture markers and filled them in with clear epoxy resin to hold the veneer in place. The price was right so I'm not blaming the company for the problems. It comes down to Amazon and how they treated the box in shipping. Overall, I would recommend the desk, just be aware what you are getting into. ... show more

I rarely ever write reviews but I had to for this desk. The desk is not exactly bad, the build seems reasonable for the price and the finish is nice. The monitor stand is a little bit wobbly but the desk itself is pretty solid. The biggest issue that has left me wanting to burn the desk to the ground a few times is that in the middle "corner" of the desk there are two metal supports that will DESTROY your knees if you scoot into the desk in any direction other than exactly in the center of the two sides. I generally like to sit in the corner of the desk with all of my stuff around me to the left and right and it just is not possible with the way this desk is designed. UPDATE: Shortly after I made my purchase and wrote the review above a rep from Mr. Ironstone reached out to me to apologize for the issues that I have experienced. They offered two solutions to my issue, the first was a full refund and the second was an offer to send me the larger version of the desk which has a different support structure under the desk at no cost. I chose to accept the larger version of the desk as I still needed a desk since the other one was not really what i was looking for. The new desk is SO MUCH better!! If you are someone who likes to sit in the corner of the desk and not either on the left or right side of the desk then you need to buy the 59" version of the desk from MR. IRONSTONE. Its a little bit deeper of a desk, which I didn't know I needed at the time, but the leg/knee room is so much better and allows you to sit comfortably in the corner. I was looking for a desk for my new gaming set up and this was perfect. Assembly was quite easy and the instructions were clear. I’m not a huge fan of the individual Allan keys, so I used a ratchet and a multi piece Allan wrench. It easily supports my PC, monitor and peripherals. I’ll finally get to stream again. My daughter is about to be a senior in high school. Within the past week, she decided to rearrange her room and decided she wanted a new desk. I found this one while searching and thought it looked like a good option. The price tag was appealing to me as well as the design. My daughter’s room is compact so having an L-shaped desk included was going to be tricky. Once I found this desk, I measured her room and it ended up being perfect for the space she had planned. Assembling the desk took a little longer than planned, but it wasn’t because it was complicated. In fact, if you’ve ever put together a piece of furniture like this, it is an intuitive process. There are several pieces and lots of screws, but if you take your time and follow the instructions, which are easy to follow, then you shouldn’t have any problems with the assembly. The one thing I ended up having a little trouble with was some of the brace pieces. They have to be inserted after the legs are put on and if you tighten the legs, you will have to loosen them to place the braces. Other than that I didn’t have any issues with putting the desk together. The desk is sturdy, but not heavyweight enough to hold a human should one decide to sit on it. My daughter loves having a full-size desk in her room. She even loves being able to do homework sitting at it — and she hates homework. There is only one shelf included with the desk and while it’s designed for monitors, it can be used for other purposes. This is a very nice, inexpensive desk.
