Love these little USB adapters. This is the third one I've installed. Cheap, and puts out plenty of power, enough to keep up with GPS on a phone with the screen on, or to keep a GoPro powered while recording. I usually cut off the SAE connector to hardwire it, but I keep a spare in my bag so I can plug into the battery tender lead on any of my bikes should I need to charge a device that's not up front on the handlebars. ... show more

its really that simple. If you can find a way to mount this thing so that the port faces down you'll be in pretty good shape. I installed this on my 05 Road King and rode to Sturgis from Ohio. Well, yeah, I ran into storms, and just plain rain. Just a drop or two of water trickled down into the port before I could pull off and batten down the hatches and that was all it took. the port failed and the fuse also blew. It works awesome. Just take extra special care to make sure it stays dry. Common sense. The good news is this...if you destroy the port, just order that piece. its cheap. This is a good product ... show more

I have had this on my DRZ400sm for nearly a year now and it works great. I use it to charge a Samsung Note 9. I once forgot to put the "water proof" cap on when washing the bike. I just removed the zip ties holding it on and turned it upside down for a ride to let dry out before using again, that was 4 months ago and still working. I have read several reviews on this unit causing batteries to go dead...of course it will over time. I have mine switched to the ignition key, specifically the running light circuit. I have gone to all LED lighting so I have some spare amps to play with and I do not use the SAE plug to charge battery. Watt's Law states that: Power (in Watts) = Voltage (in Volts) x Current (in Amps) So, if this unit provides 3.5 amps @ 5 volts then it will be drawing approximately 1.5 amps at 12 volts. Feel free to check my math...and before anyone freaks out...yes there is some draw from the electronics but lets be real here...it is insignificant. So if you do not need to use the SAE plug to charge your battery or charge your phone with key off, just wire it to a switched circuit and your battery will never go dead...plus if this is draining your battery as fast as some say...you need a new battery. ... show more

This is the 3rd one I’ve purchased. It works great and charges fast. The only reason I’ve had to buy replacements was because I forget to close the cover and get water inside when I wash my bike, my fault. It’s a great product and for such a cheap price no complaints.

Long story short, if you have an iPhone that suddenly stopped charging on your motorcycle, this stronger charger will fix the issue. Had a Trackside 2.1A charger, one day it would no longer charge (tried a brand new 2.1A charger and new Lighting cable as well), swapped this 3.1A straight onto the wiring from the 2.1A (both SAE), fixed the issue immediately. ... show more

I have purchased 6 of these to add USB charging to my motorcycle panniers. and used them for more than 2 years. They don't draw power when not used, no bells or whistles, just charging. This is perfect when the hub is hidden away and you just want it to charge. Might be a good idea to buy a tester to verify it is working, but I just plug in my phone and let it tell me it is charging... good to go. ... show more
