Elegant actually means "simple", and this is a very elegant vase. The winejar shape is classic and understated, very present but not garish, not calling attention. Fired and glazed clay in a rustic and very "homey" manner, it can move effortlessly across Mediterranean, French Cottage, Country Craft, or Boho "Shabby-Chic" design. The soft cobalt into white is almost universal in appeal and aesthetic, finding a place in kitchen, bedroom, livingroom, or even bathroom. It's your basic go-anywhere vase. Solid and striking, but do handle with care; this vase is not designed for rough treatment. Nor is it intended for liquid - this is a dried/synthetic flower ichiban vase. In a home with rowdy pets and rowdy children, place it out of reach! The glazing on mine was a bit spotty and rough-brushed at the bottom (white portion) of the vase, but I don't mind this as I feel it adds a more handmade, rustic feel that I like. Perfection is boring; it's the flaws that make things unique. The keyword is "pleasing". Restful and centering to contemplate, this is a quite pleasing vase. ... show more
