After trying Danner, Bates, and 5.11s, I gave the Merrell Nova 3 Tactical Mids a shot — and I’m glad I did. 👣 Fit & Comfort (5/5) I ordered 15W, and they fit perfectly out of the box — no toe pinching, no pressure points. Feels more like a trail runner than a boot. Lightweight, breathable, and easy on the knees during long shifts. The heel cushioning is excellent for long hours on concrete or pavement. 🌧 Waterproofing (4.5/5) They've handled rain, puddles, and light flooding with no problem. Not insulated, but with thick socks, they’re fine in colder weather. 🚓 On-Duty Performance (5/5) Traction is excellent — no slipping during foot pursuits or wet conditions. Just the right balance of ankle support and mobility. Great for patrol, traffic stops, foot beats, and range training. Still holding up strong. 🔧 Durability (TBD but promising) Months in and no signs of failure — stitching, sole, and waterproofing all still solid. Toe guard and outsole seem like they’re built for punishment. 🛠 Pro Tip: Wear them on a couple shorter shifts first. After 23 yrs active duty Army I know good boots from bad ones. Now retired, I needed a lightweight, nice looking and comfortable boot in my role as a JROTC instructor. These are likely the most comfortable lace up “duty” boot I’ve ever worn. I say that having worn Danner and Rocky as my main duty boots while in uniform. Really like these boots they wear more like sneakers than a heavy boot but still provide warmth. Are comfortable seem to be tough and are wearing well after two months of wear. Even though these are not supposed to be cold weather I have been hiking in snow and 20 degree temps with just a pair of wool socks and they kept my feet comfortable. I am retired from the military and an avid outdoorsman. I take footwear very seriously and like to do my research before a purchase. Buying boots on Amazon without being able to try them on has always made me hesitant. Yes, there are free returns, but once I’ve committed the funds to a purchase I’d like it to go right and avoid the uncertainty of the refund timeline. So, I wanted to share the info I would have liked to know before I made this purchase. These are great lightweight, well cushioned day hikers with a great moisture barrier and really good traction. They are comfortable enough for daily wear around town, and have what it takes to perform off trail for rec hiking and flatland off trail excursions. I have a narrow foot, and the toe box on this boot is wide. Not wide enough to let my foot slip around in the front, but enough to cause a little bunching of the material under the bottom row of laces. I almost returned them for that reason. I’m picky and worried that it would get to me. I was over it fast and don’t notice it much at all. They have a great moisture barrier lining, but don’t sweat your feet out like some can. These are good boots for what they do, they are stylish enough to pull off with jeans without feeling like “that guy” and still feel like I have something useful on my feet if I need them. ... show more

I'm a letter carrier in the midwest (USA), that walks a lot. These are water resistant for two hours at the most (during rain), but I wouldn't use the word "waterproof" to describe them. They are true to size. No break-in period required. They are comfortable to wear all day and have been durable enough to last about a year now (being worn a couple of times a week for 9-13 hours at a time). However, there are clear signs of wear. I wouldn't expect these to be wearable for another year under the same conditions. Traction from the first day is average at best, but use caution when walking on a wet, smooth surface (like a painted porch). Will I purchase again? No. ... show more

Poor quality control and many levels. Arrived dirty with broken shoe lace attachment. Also pre worn, but this did not stop distribution from mailing damaged, previously returned boots to me. I've returned these boots for a pair with actual shoelace holes, not something that can be torn off. I have not recieved new boots yet, hopefully they will arrive new, undamaged and clean, so I can trash them myself over time by putting miles on them as intended. ... show more
