  • Very Sturdy and Comfy but Don't Expect Boot-Like Lateral Support
Size: 11.5 Color: Black
Situation: Hands-On Engineer who walks 7-10,000 steps a day, combined with much desk work. Not a Tradesman. I much prefer the insanely comfy support of Salomon shoes when walking extensively, but Jungle Mocs are great for mixed walking/sitting. When your feet swell you don't need to kick them off. Pros: - Typical dependable, Jungle Moc comfort. Enough support for "just walking", but not enough support for climbing nor mixed terrain (outdoor non-paved). So don't expect a boot-fit. - VERY sturdy without being stiff. Composite Toe is strong and roomy-enough. Footbed is typical Jungle Moc "10-quality" cradling support. - These are a full step-up in firm support vs. standard Jungle Mocs. So they are well-qualified for industrial work, on paved surfaces. - Some people ridicule Jungle Mocs as "Dad Shoes", but I think they look sporty with jeans that don't drag on the shoe tops. - The soles are unique to Merrel's work shoes. According to other reviewers, the dots running down the center are likened to "Octopus Suction Cups" in that they enhance grip on smooth flooring. Not "sticky"; just better grip than smooth floors. Minor Con One of my shoes quickly burned a 1/8" blister hole into the inboard (arch) side of one of my ankles, right behind the elastic gusset. But a) My feet pronate, so duh, and b) I put a small bandage on the spot until the shoe breaks in, so it's all good. You might want to pay attention to friction points until break-in is complete. These are sturdy shoes, after all. Highly Recommended ... show more

  • Great 3/4 ankle boots for people with certain foot issues.
Size: 11.5 Color: Walnut
I have drop foot in my right leg, happened when I was a 25 yr old when my pelvis was broken and I wear an AFO inside the shoe to give my toes elevation and do not trip. You can't imagine the difficulty in finding shoes I can wear comfortably with such a condition. The shoes are either too narrow at the toe box and painfully squeeze my toes or two narrow in the center of the foot and the brace will not fit inside. Many times, when I cannot find a wide style shoe, I have to buy a half size or full size larger just to fit the brace and end up tripping often from the extra length. The last pair of boots I bought were Salomon XAforce which were $200 a few years back. Since they are 3 yrs old and a light coyote brown color they have become dingy. They are great boots, probably the best but I didn't have $220 to spend. I decided to give Merrell a try because my 77 yr old uncle, who is also well aware of a good boot from his days in Vietnam, had a pair on one day. After reading several positive reviews, I purchased. The Salomon XAs took at least 3 months to break in, they were so uncomfortable in the beginning but these Merrill boots were comfortable right out of the box it actually surprised me because that almost NEVER happens. My foot is very tender in spots and some days it can be painful just to put ON a shoe. My brace fit in with no modifying whatsoever and the toe box doesn't scrunch my toes and make it painful like some other boots can. Laced up nice and tight they feel great on my feet and I can wear them all day with bo problems, which I cannot do with just any ol shoe. The bottom sole grips snow and ice and I feel fairly confident I will not slip on my butt on the icy Colorado ground. I've only had them about 4 months but so far everything has held up and I've had no problems. They've become even more comfortable than my Salomons and I wear them just as much if not more. Only time will tell if they last as long. I'm glad I got these either way when comparing price and now I'm Merrell guy just as much as Salomon, thanks uncle! 👍🏻 ... show more

  • One of my 2 favorite hiking/utility boot brands.
Size: 11 Wide Color: Black Night
I've owned at least half a dozen pairs of Merrells, and as long as the fit is good (some styles differ on fit), these never let me down. Comfortable & durable enough for me- these have been great. AND, they come in wide sizes, as well!

  • Good hiking shoe
I probably have about 60 miles (96 km) on these now... mostly in Colorado or the Great Lakes region. First, I normally wear a US men's size 13. I ordered these shoes as a 13 - and they've been comfortable - but if I was ordering them again, I'd order a 12.5. There was a little slippage when scrabbling or walking on very rocky trails. Speaking of rocky trails - I was very pleased with the soles. They seem durable and they provided good grip. The shoe's construction also seemed able to handle some abuse. I'm definitely glad I got the "ventilator" version. My feet could breathe and I think waterproof would have been too hot. I got the shoes a little wet once or twice (brief partial submersion in puddles/mud) and they dried quickly. I think my only complaint so far is noise; the shoes are kind of squeaky. I'm also not a huge fan of the eyelet webbing. I think these eyelets are more vulnerable to tearing. Overall, this seems like a great shoe for the price point. ... show more

  • Comfortable!
Size: 11 Wide Color: Black Night
Very well made and not that heavy for a boot like this. I wear them a couple days a week to work where I'm on my feet all day.

  • Very Good!
Size: 12 Color: Walnut
For me the Moab 2 fit it is better than Moab 3. The toe box seems to be a little wider than the 3. My left foot is wider than my right so it worked out to my advantage. Its a comfortable boot for what it is. Snugging/pulling up on the laces is a nice smooth easy to do operation. Made in Vietnam and the quality looks very good. ... show more
