These a good looking boots out of the box with a few minor take backs. The boot is NOT an 8" boot ( measures 6.5 in from bottom of foot to top of boot The zipper strap does not cover the zipper.

So I bought these because of my knowledge of Merrell's quality. I am schocked that 6 months in the toe is tearing where it bends at durring normal walking. I am not hard on my boots but i do get about 5-8k steps in durring work. I am shocked at the poor quality of these boots.

I bought my original pair of Merrell Moab 2 in 2012 when I was doing overseas work and i still wear them today (replaced the shoelaces with 550 cord about 2 years ago). I've gotten back into LE work and have blown thrown 2 pairs of 5.11 boots and 1 pair of underarmour boots in 2 years. When I found these Merrell Moab "tactical" boots I couldn't contain my enthusiasm. I immediately tried them on and they fit perfect (10.5 size). They feel just like my original Moab 2, comfortable, supportive, right amount of snug in the instep and ankles. I know these will last me years. Yes, they cost more than other boots (other than Danner) but they will last a long time. Update 2022 November. I finally bought a second pair of these boots. At first I was a little up set because I didn't think they lasted that long. I checked my Amazon order history and realized I had bought these boots several years ago. The quality is still the same and the fit and finish is still Merell quality. If you're looking at 5.11 or Under armor, don't waste your time. Buy once cry once. ... show more

These are my favorite boots. From exploring castles in Scotland to snowshoeing in Vermont, they have kept my feet comfortable, warm and dry.

I go through a lot of boots because I hike, walk a lot and work in my nursery while wearing boots. I previously ordered a pair of Free Soldier boots which were much less expensive and very comfortable but the soles didn't adequately support my feet over time. I re-developed plantar fasciitis. I decided to order these Merrell boots despite the cost and they change everything for me. I wear custom orthotics so I bought a size 12 boot for my 11 1/2 foot because of the added space they take up. The boots are extremely comfortable and easy to put on and take off, considering these are tall boots. Once you work them in a little, all you have to do is loosen the top two rows of laces, unzip the sides and pull the velcro strap back. When you put them back on you get a tight, secure fit and barely notice you have boots on your feet. They feel light but supportive and do the job on technical trails. They have been water tight for me so far and I wear them in all kinds of weather. I also where them in the dead of summer. Highly recommend. ... show more

    • Great boot as I expected from Merrell
I have 3 pairs of Merrell shoes and 1 pair of Merrell hiking boots. These did not disappoint. I bought these for riding my Harley and they are great for insulating my foot from the vibration and provide great ankle support when stopped with feet down, along with being waterproof. I have several boots and shoes with a Vibram sole. I could wear these all day everyday if I needed to. I highly recommend them. ... show more
