Features

  • MAJOR UPGRADE FROM "STOCK" STARTER CYMBALS: these are not those distractingly cheap, flimsy prop cymbals that come with most drum sets; Meinl HCS cymbals have impressive sound and sturdy feel geared toward beginner/intermediate players
  • WHY IT MATTERS: playing HCS cymbals will sound more like what you hear in actual songs, making the drums even more fun to play; plus, they aren't going to fall apart, dent, or bend after a few uses like stock cymbals
  • WHAT'S IN THE BOX: includes one 16" trash crash cymbal; it sounds like a cross between a china cymbal and a dark crash; hole cut-outs give it its trashy tone, and it's great for accents, cymbal stacking, or heavy fills with its quick sustain
  • DRIVING THE SOUND: made in Germany with MS63 brass alloy for a clean, bright, and crisp tone; substantial thickness with well-formed surface grooves and hammer marks give you a defined sound without clangy or ear-piercing overtones
  • CATCH UP QUICK: HCS exceeds expectations because Meinl brings experience crafting cymbals since 1951; we make HCS and other lines in our German factory, and our top-of-the-line professional Byzance cymbals are hand hammered in Turkey from cast B20 bronze
  • ZOOM IN: the surface shimmers and shines under light, which is a bonus if you like your kit to look beautiful; HCS cymbals also feature the same logo treatment as our professional lines, including a small laser engraved logo and serial number
  • OF NOTE: you can find any sound in the seemingly never-ending selection of cymbal types in the HCS line; all essentials in multiple sizes are covered along with effects cymbals that let you expand your sound with variety
  • THE BOTTOM LINE: this is a German made, top-quality entry level cymbal that resembles more high-end models with its crisp, bright tone and musical feel; it has a long lifespan, even for hard hitters, and fits any musical style

  • NOT a shabby cymbal!
Color: Brass Size: 16"
I am somewhat disappointed with Amazon's delivery time (the cymbal did not ship until 7 days after I placed the order), but I am happy with the overall quality of the cymbal itself. The HCS series of Meinl cymbals is marketed toward "beginner" drummers. As a drummer who has been behind his set for over 40 years, I have to say that this particular cymbal is pretty darn good sounding. I have 2 Sabian HHX Ozone cymbals and I have to say that the Meinl HCS series of Ozone cymbals is very close to the quality of my Sabians. I would not hesitate to recommend this HCS cymbal to a professional or a beginning drummer. My only complaint is that the circular cutouts have rough edges. I would compare this cymbal to a high quality B8, hand hammered composition cymbal. If you are looking for an Ozone cymbal at a relatively decent price, I would have to say that this it the cymbal you want. ... show more

  • You don't always get what you pay for!
Color: Bronze Size: 14"
I bought this crash to add to my son's Ludwig Pocket Kit. The price was reasonable so I made the purchase. You don't always get what you pay for. This cymbal is of way higher value than its listed price. I could not be happier. It's crisp and snappy. It has a beautiful bronze appearance and shimmer when hit with your sticks. I cannot say enough about this specific brand and cymbal. I will definitely order more from this company. ... show more

  • Great entry level trash
Color: Bronze Size: 14"
Not too dark sounding like many other trash crashes are, and incredibly cheap for how good it sounds. Yes there are better luxury options out there but if you want a good drumming experience with a cymbal that sounds good enough to where it isn’t distractingly cheap, this is a great option.

  • Tinny.
Color: Brass Size: 16"
Was looking for a trash can cymbal. The sound is okay, but has a ring that is tinny. If it didn't ring it would have been great. Tried tightening and loosening but you either lose the sound and the ring...or just reduce the ring as much as possible to keep the sound.

  • More trash than crash
Color: Brass Size: 16"
I had high hopes for this. I figured that a “trash” cymbal didn’t need to be expensive to sound decent. For context this was placed among Sabian, Zildjian, Istanbul, and paiste cymbals at my drumset. The initial sound is ok, but there’s something missing for me. Not enough projection to fit in with the better cymbals. I think I may give up on the trash crash idea for now, but if I were to look again I would probably check out the xist ion or one of the pricier sabians which I have heard and used before. I think this would work on a smaller kit with less capable cymbals around it though. In my context I felt that it wasn’t worth the money because it didn’t have much sound. ... show more

  • Sounds great- can't beat it!!
Color: Brass Size: 16"
I was reluctant at first to purchase this cymbal because most of my cymbals are pretty high end, but I read the other reviews and they are correct it is a really solid cymbal. It has a quick fade which I like, and a great cranky sound, also the bell is excellent, go figure right- OK Meinl you got this one really right, nice work!!! Oh by the way I would have posted a video but the one they have is excellent, sounds just like mine! ... show more
