Description

Takara Tomy has completely redesigned the newest Masterpiece Convoy for this figure release and what an amazing job they did. Convoy, or Optimus Prime as many know him, is fully transformable and comes with his trailer which also transforms. Convoy, as leader of the Autobots, carries the Matrix in his chest and the figure's chest opens up to reveal it showing the amazing detail. Of course, Convoy carries his beam rifle (which also transforms) and also an Energy Axe. A tiny vehicle which fits inside the trailer as well as a tiny human figure are also included.

  • Best Optimus G1 ever made.
To be honest, I saw this item and marked it as a toy; especially because it was sold at the toys R us store. I was wrong. I am not a toy collector; I collect adult collectibles; and this is not a toy for sure. Got 3 of them, just to point out how much I liked it. To start with; this is the best rendition of the G1 transformer OP. Sorry, but I grew up with such design, G1 for me is the standard shape, and so far, this is the best figure ever made for OP. I have purchased the Takara version; which is coming in a wonderful black box with nice pictures on it. It doesn't look like a toy; in a plastic transparent packaging (like the TRS version); although the figure is exactly the same (minus some irrelevant details; at least to me). This version show that it is not a toy. The figure is plastic; metal is reduced to the minimmum (I believe few joints); but this does not take away much of the joy to handle this figure. It is solid when you manipulate it; and beside the horrible joints on the hands, that pop out easily; and the super hard cover on the matrix; the rest is top notch. Minimum flaws; perfect paint with uniform color, and extra solid joints; which result really har to move, and this means that the figure will last longer. The only softer part is the feet area; this result in some issues when posing the figure. I did check around to find a way to make these joints thighter, but so far no luck. The articulation is pretty good; beside being a trasformable figure; it ha sa pretty amazing range of movements; you can pull out any kind of pose you may want. I just wish they would add some light features; either in the head or chest, but it is nitpicking to be honest. The transformation is awesome; although you know exacty which part is which (the truck mode is pretty big in the back; the only downside, but it doesn't look strange or disproportioned); it goes from humanoid to truck with an amazing number of engineering choices. The chest actually shift and allow the original chest to move out; giving a solid torso in humanoid mode; and in truck mode, allow you to fold the arm in, exactly like the original G1 toy from the 80s. It takes few try to perform it right; but once you get the gist; it is a breeze. Panels move and hide parts; and it is a pleasant experience. The figure has the iconic rifle, which is pretty small compared to the anime counterpart, but it is well done, and it folds up, so you can store it in OP backpack. It also has the trailer; which open and is pretty much the same as the original G1 toy, but made better. Also included the little car (roller), which is what take away the trailer when OP transform in the show (don't quote me on that...has bee quite long time since G1 in tv), and the spike figure that can fit in the truck mode too. There is also the energy axe; which I find ugly and pretty useless; so I left it in the box. If you like Transformers; you must get this figure. If you like robots and transforming figure, you must get this figure. ... show more

  • Awesome figure, awesome seller
I absolutely LOVE this figure. The colors are beautiful, giving him a gorgeous appearance. While the eyes on this Takara version are a bit too dark, under certain lighting conditions they look quite vivid. I'd personally probably still pick this version over the Hasbro one, but that's just my own preference. The overall quality of the figure is outstanding, and the articulation is nice and tight for the most part. The molding gives the figure a majestic and warrior-like demeanor. I did notice that the forefinger comes off easily but can be easily popped back on (apparently the easily-detached fingers are a persistent problem with this figure), but it's not really a big deal - just don't lose the fingers! The seller is also great. GAWRA Selections Japan handled my order with courtesy and perseverance. I highly recommend them. ... show more

  • Cybertron's Finest
The actual box was slightly damaged and open at the top (single tape strip had popped), but the inner contents were in a sealed state. This was concerning but ended up not being a problem for me. All contents (including the booklet and character card) were present and in mint condition. With that being said, Optimus is amazing. Both robot and truck form are excellent in workmanship. The transformation process is smooth and all parts snap into place nicely. This is easily one of my all time favorite purchases. Cheers to Takara Tomy. ... show more

  • Not what I expected, but pretty great anyway.
This is one heck of a collector's piece. I have been into Transformers since I was 10 and they were first released. Those toys, as cool as they were at the time, cant compare at all to what this MP-10 offers. The build quality is the best I've seen since the original Jetfire. There is no diecast, but that's really not an issue if good quality plastics are used and they have been. Easy to pose using the stand and even without it. The proportions seem to be just about right. It was a bit pricey at nearly $400.00, but I knew I was paying a premium and I still really wanted it. I am very happy with it. The only drawback i had in my case was that it was advertised as new and was actually used. I contacted the seller and they were very nice and offered to make things right. I was happy with their response. I will be searching for more Masterpieces now that I know how good they can be. ... show more

  • I feel scammed😑
When I ordered the mp 10, I assumed I would be getting a new one. However, when I opened the package, I noticed that the no 10 packaging has already been opened, twice, as the original tape has been cut, then sealed with scotch tape, and cut again. Next, when I actually got the box opened, I noticed the tray mp 10 was placed in was backwards, like seriously? When I actually got the figure out, I was again disappointed because some of the panels didn't line up properly, specifically the thighs, because there was a gap between the two pieces that made up each thigh. The paint could have been done better too as the front left wheel well had some paint chipped off of it. The panel on roller also had some issues too as well as the spike figure, however I don't really care about those two accessories. However, I do care about the trailer, and that may have been the worse thing for me, as the front of the trailer wasn't flush as one of the panels was angled inwards. Besides hose flaws, convoy is still really nice and is probably the most well built masterpiece figure I've owned. It doesn't have the problem with the finger popping off and for the most part the joints were tight. The legs , unlike what I've seen on reviews of convoy, actually stay together pretty well. ... show more
