Description

The Tesoro Tejon and Vaquero have been on the market for some ten years, yet they are still among the best-performing metal detectors available. This book draws upon years of field experience and puts it all together in a concise, readable form. Even long-time Tejon and Vaquero owners will find something useful. Key topics, including ground balance and working iron-infested sites, are presented in more detail than ever before. This book can be considered more than just an advanced user manual; it's a ten-year anniversary celebration for these great metal detectors. Even those who own other Tesoro machines (Cibola, Outlaw, etc) will find much of the information useful. If you're even thinking of buying one of these metal detectors, this book has virtually everything you'll need to make the choice, and to become an expert with either or both of them. The book includes some rational thoughts on brand & model comparisons. It offers compelling answers to the question of why someone would buy a metal detector that makes only a single beep and has no screen. Read more

  • Very good read if you own either model
A very informative book on two detectors that serve partially as an extended instruction manual and a insight into why they are loved by many. It also compares other models for reference to increase your knowledge on all metal detectors so you end up detecting better. It should have been shipped with both in my opinion, the only down side is no paperback version available at time of review. ... show more

  • Excellent book that tells about digital Vs. Analog metal Detectors
I bought this book because I use a Tesoro Tejon along with many other metal detectors and I always am learning. Tesoro detectors are Analog circuit detectors while a lot of others are digital. Digital units are running with a 1 or 0 (on or off.) As the signal is processed it has to meet certain criteria or you won't even know your coil passed over a target. This book covers the Tejon and Vaquero along with a few other Tesoro metal detectors. A lot of what is covered also applies to many other detectors and tells how to increase your deep finds. ... show more

  • Just Get This Book !!
1st. You CAN read this on any computer . You get a free converter to be able to do this when registering with Kindle . If you think you know about the Vaquero or Tejon think again , this book is jam packed with info not found on any forum and all in one place . Not filled with pictures , no BS worthy of a much higher price as well . P.S I am in NO WAY connected to the Author of this book , credit where credit is due . ... show more

  • The case for Tesoro
I read the book over two days. I would certainly recommend the book for people considering buying a Tesoro detector, and for those who are on the learning curve of using the Tejon, Vaquero or Cibola. The author states the case for Tesoro, setting out the all the pro's of owning/using these great detectors. The author shares his years of experience specifically using the Tejon and Vaquero. There are plenty of anecdotes throughout the book which give an insight into how the author learned his tips and techniques. The author provides the reader with the strength's and weakness's of both detectors. Providing operating tips and techniques to help the reader get the most out of their Tejon or Vaquero. For someone on this learning curve, I found the tips and techniques in the book helpful. The author compares Tesoro's analog technology with much of the "newer" technology, ie read outs, touch-pads etc, and explains why Tesoro's are still up there with the best. This book will save time for those on the Tesoro learning curve; save time trawling the Forums for tips and answers. Happy hunting to all you Tesoro users out there ! ... show more

  • Easy to learn, takes time to master
This book helps to shorten the learning curve for this (Tejon) very powerful, easy-to-use, but difficult to master detector. As a newer Tejon user, I definitely came away with a better understanding of my device and several tips that have already helped me locate silver that I otherwise would not have found. Great book for a very niche group! ... show more

  • Lots of useful information in this book!
I found 'Mastering the Tesoro Tejon and Vaquero' to have many unknown helpful tips and tricks that I anticipate applying to my Tesoro Outlaw which is similar to the Vaquero yet different. The authors knowledge is believable being backed by many hours in the field using both detectors. The book is written from a non-biased scientific point of view and pictures are used only when necessary to further illustrate his point. For around 100 pages and what I've learned I can definitely recommend the book. ... show more

I was expecting more information than I already knew - $10 a little steep for what I got, but not without some merit. If you were new to metal detecting, it would probably be more helpful.

  • If you are thinking of buying one of these detectors ...
If you are thinking of buying one of these detectors or already own one, you need this book. I am going to buy a Vaquero soon and my mind was made up by reading this book. As a long time user of Tesoro detectors, Mr. Thorsten knows his stuff. He answered all the questions I had on my mind. I do wish a hard copy was available but I read through the information in two settings. Thanks C. Thorsten, I am excited !!!! ... show more
