Now I get that the price has gone up on these over the last year but like 10$ so not bad. A pair of these usually last me 3ish yrs. And I do mean 3 yrs of hell for the poor things. I spend a lot of time working outside in rugged terrain and they hold up nicely. I have an older pair I just cant throw awaybthwy finally have started to separate at the sole and upper and I duct taped them and they still keep going. They also are quite comfy on concrete as I wear the new pair when I volunteer. These are the most comfortable boot I've ever owned I've bought several pairs for my husband and I over the years then for our kids as they got older we all agree best boot hands down . Also I had a pair arrive defective they sent me a new pair and told me to keep the old ones there customer service cant be rivaled ... show more

It's a great pair of boots, but they won't last long under heavy-use. I work on concrete flooring 4 days out of the week and walk through grass and the like pretty much every day. Externally, the boots are in perfect condition. No complaints... internally though, is all the wear and tear you'd expect... some of it I'm not entirely sure how it's fallen apart or become worn. The front where your toes are, there's some kind of flexible plastic in that area that I assume is to keep the shoes in its form as well as help keep water out. Yeah, that stuff is brittle after 3-4 months and it's ungodly annoying to remove as it falls apart and stabs your toes until you shake it out or go in there and pull it all out with your hand. Removing it doesn't do anything bad to the shoe. There are no detrimental problems after I removed the brittle plastic stuff. The other wear and tear issue is the shoe has a side-zipper and I use it. Makes getting the boots on and off 1000 times easier, but somehow the inside where the back of your leg would sit up in the boot has started wearing off where normally this type of wear and tear is due to your heel rubbing up against it as it goes in the shoes and out of it. I'm not sure why it's showing this type of wear and tear but it is. Also, if you do buy these shoes, prepare to invest heavily into extra sole padding on the inside if you work in conditions like mine. I currently use the original padding. (I assume it's disintegrated by now, the original padding is never worth anything in any shoe), 1 heavy workload padding and 1 gel padding meant for work, and that just barely helps the inevitable foot pain after 2-3 days of work. And you'll likely have to replace all that padding after 2 months or so when you're weight and workload has murdered it into not being as effective as when you first bought it. ... show more

My last pair of maelstrom's last at 3 years. last year I bought a of Bates. The zipper broke less than a year later . Paid $114 for them. But I think they were knock off's. These Malstrom's were only $54 and they are the same style that lasted longer and zipper never broke. I just wore the soles down, but it took 3 years to do so . As long as maelstrom keeps making them I'll keep buying them ... show more

    • Amazing Boots - Comfy and Fit as Expected!

I use these boots for yard work and airsoft, and while I haven't used them extensively yet, I can say that they are by far the most comfortable boots I've ever had, and am now trying to get my brother to buy himself a pair. These boots fit amazingly well, which was a surprise because I'm not used to trying on a shoe in my size and having it immediately fit. I bought the Men's 10.5 and Men's 10 Wide, but as soon as I tried the 10.5 on I knew I would keep it (I tried the 10 Wide on just in case, but I did keep the 10.5). After some more use I may come back and leave more feedback about their durability and life-expectancy, but so far, they seem very sturdy and I'm not worried about them getting torn up anytime soon! P.S. The zipper was a must-have for me, and I was very happy to find comfy, durable boots that also had a zipper on them. ... show more

Boot has nice padding in it already. No need to buy aftermarket one. Fits nice and comfy. Haven't tried in the rain yet but on wrtgrass it had great traction

Product was very nice and well made but it was not the size i needed. They must run small or something because the size was stamped on it correctly but they were too small? too tight. Got a refund though!

I wear a size 14. Shoes are hard to find, and even harder to find good ones. These boots are awesome! Very comfortable and I didn't need a break-in period. Would recommend without hesitation.
