  • 4.0 out of 5 stars YOU HAVE TO JAM THEM IN DEEP - to hear their fullness
Style: Dynamic Drivers
Okay - so listen up. Selection of which ear foam/tip is ESSENTIAL. I had to uncomfortably JAM the smallest taper tip DEEP into my ear before I got any significant bass. If you are relying on a round tip or something sitting OUTSIDE your canal, you will think these headphones SUCK. But they don't. You aren't wearing them the way needed to actually HEAR the lows. Once INSERTED DEEP, they actually are pretty wonderful. DEEP DEEP bass (low...impressively low) Warm saturated mids (texture) Softer less extended highs (but I prefer that any day over brittle ones) They are easy to drive from a smartphone (no external amp needed). Very happy I kept going - push, push, ouch, push more...to finally get them seated INSIDE MY EAR CANAL. A little uncomfortable is my only complaint. The stem that the ear foams/rubbers attach to is pretty wide diameter...so IF you have narrow ear canals...these will probably hurt (at least till you get accustomed to them). Good luck. Worth a try. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars proper fit in the ear is a must to get the full benefits
Style: Dual Hybrid
I bought the MP240 to get a better low end then the single driver IM i’m learning to play the slaptop cajon. When I first got them i tried different ear pieces until I thought I got a good fit the sound was good but I was slightly disappointed. A couple of weeks later I tried the foam tips and got a better fit everybodys ears are different, boy i was surprised the bass was punchy and clear and there was more definition in the highs, you could hear the reverb tails and harmonies. Before I could say they were alright but now their fantastic sounding. I suspect some of the other reviews stating weak sound is that they don’t have the proper fit in their ears. I highly recommend them for the price ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Impact-less Sounding
Style: Armature Drivers - Quad Balance
I don't know when "audiophile" and "monitor" came to mean "wimpy and hollow sounding", but it seems to be the case with all of balanced armature earbuds I've tried so far (3), including these. The thing is that's most of what's being manufactured on the high-end. If I wanted a gramophone, I'd buy a gramophone. Trying hybrid (combination of dynamic + balanced drivers) IEMs next, hopefully I'll have better luck. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great sounding IEM!
Style: Dynamic Drivers
I will echo what a few have already said about these IEMs. It is essential to try on the various sizes and shapes to find the right fit. You also have to make sure to insert it all the way into your ear canal. It will feel a little uncomfortable at first but the sound quality if phonimal! I have a pair of KRK monitor speakers I use along with these and the sound is clean and clear! Highly recommend these! ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars This is a tough one.
Style: Dynamic Drivers
I really wanted to like these but I had return it. These are for singer songwriters and acoustic acts and possibly low volume blues or whatever. These are not for louder metal players. The flaw is the size of the sound hole and the way the tips are pretty much impossible to get to sit right. It also does not give the isolation needed for a louder band. Used with a sennheiser IEM system and was hoping to find this better than the included headphones. They’re better sounding when not in band setting, but not right, as I said, for a loud metal band. I’m gonna spend the extra money and look at custom molds. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Unbeatable at $199
Style: Dual Hybrid
I am a keyboardist at my church, and I needed a good pair of in-ear monitors (IEM) to replace the OEM pair that came with the wireless receiver/transmitter hardware I purchased for my personal monitor mix. I had just bought a Nord Stage 3 HP keyboard, and I needed a monitor mix better than what our floor monitors delivered. - First, I tried the Mackie MP-120 IEM, thinking I could get by with an $80 purchase, and hoo-boy, I was WRONG. They sounded okay but had *way* more bass EQ than I could tolerate...if a pile mud had to listen too its monitor mix through an MP-120, even it would think the mix is too muddy. - Second, I tried the Mackie MP-220 which was much, much better than the MP-120, but lacked the high-end EQ I really needed. - Third, I gave the MEE Pinnacle P1 IEM a try. They sounded similar to the Mackie MP-220 set, but the problem was that the audio would cut out on the left channel. After some research, I found that others had the same issue. In my book, this flaw put them below the MP-120 pair since at least those muddy IEMs never cut out. - Fourth, I tried the Bang & Olufsen H3 ANC IEM; while they sounded better than the MP-120, the ANC really messed the sound up, and I had to take them out after using them on stage for less than 2 minutes. - Fifth, after trying to stay around the $150 price point and getting discouraged, I bit the bullet and spent $199 on the Mackie flagship MP-240 IEM. At the time, this was my fifth pair of IEMs, and I was pretty discouraged. I used the included memory foam earpieces to replace the factory-installed ones, plugged them up to my wirelesd pack, and I started playing a song with the band. I was so surprised that I stopped the band and played the whole song by myself just to be sure. Wow...just...wow. The MP-240 IEMs sounded absolutely amazing, and I can't believe they were only $199. Except for a slight dip around 2-3kHz, the EQ sounds pretty close to flat. Being so snug in my ears with the included memory foam and sounding loud & full, I can't hear someone 5 feet away and can't hear the electric guitar player's amp that's nearly pointed right at me. One of the main reasons I needed an IEM was because the lead electric guitar player is old & plays very loudly. They aren't as good as my studio headphones, but I also spent way, way more on those than thes MP-240 IEMs. At $199, the sound quality, physical build, and accessories are all top-notch; additionally, at the time of this writing (12/23/18) they are only $159, and if the price-to-performance ratio wasn't good enough before, it's practically criminal at this point. I'm so blown away with the quality that I got for $199 that I'm not the slightest bit mad that it's 20% cheaper now. TL;DR At $199 you won't find another IEM that sounds better than or equal to the Mackie MP-240, and priced at $159 today, it just set the bar even higher. The only downside is a slight -2dB dip around 2-3kHz, but otherwise it has a nearly flat frequency response. The purchase comes with 6 sets of ear pieces that go over the drivers to create a better fit in your ears. I've recommended these IEMs to every musician I spoke with in the past 2 months and will continue to do so. I would totally buy again if I needed more than one pair for some reason, LOL. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Best in ears for bass that I have tried.
Style: Dual Hybrid
I have been using Shure 215 for a while now but I have to be careful with volume levels because my bass will clip out the audio I am playing on Chordify. I decided to try a new pair and I am not at all disappointed. I tried out a few of the earbud pieces but I prefer the styrofoam ones, they stay and seal up my ears the best. Once I did that with these the sound quality went up. My bass even if it is overpowering the system does not clip out the other audio, probably due to the 2 hybrid drivers verse the 1 diver in the 215s. Overall I am very impressed and happy that I found them. Worth the money and has great quality. Shures closest in ears to compare to this are the 415s which run about $270. ... show more
