  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Trepidatious they might be top-heavy will give an update in six months.
Style: UNIT
I Purchased by the same manufacturer/brand 12 stemmed ice tea glasses (19.15oz) and was so thrilled with the quality and aesthetics that I decided to purchase 12 of these 11oz wineglasses. Packaging was great, they were so well packed you could probably take the box and throw it up against the wall and nothing would’ve broken LOL The wineglasses themselves boast of being something called Sparkx....See the one picture from the side of the box. Everything listed there seems to be true when you actually receive the glass. The glass is very clear, it actually looks like Crystal and it has this silver-ish reflection. These are my every day glasses and they seem to be holding up great. My only reservation is that the base of the wine glass (not stemmed iced tea) seems to be on the smaller side and I’m concerned they might be top-heavy and tip over once the wind starts flowing. I’ll give an update in six months to see how they’re faring And if there were any casualties from the smaller vase or anything else unforeseen. I’m sure these are going to work out just great even with the smaller base as the really seem very solid but delicate if that makes any sense whatsoever. The description says there are 8 inches tall and I found that they were 8 1/16“ tall which doesn’t sound like a big deal but they just barely clear and fit into the shelf that I needed them so I thought I would mention that. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars We love the simple lines of these wine glasses
Style: UNIT
We got a set of Michelangelo wine glasses as a wedding gift long ago. They were smaller than this - maybe about 6-7 ozs. When they stopped making those, we switched to the 8 oz. ones. Now that those have disappeared, I'm having to buy these monsters. We love the simple lines of these wine glasses, and the fact that they are crystal instead of glass, and their very reasonable cost. That's why we keep buying them. Crystal is sturdier than glass, probably because of the lead in them. So they don't break as easily as glass ones do. Since lead isn't good to ingest, you should never store anything in lead crystal, but most wine glasses are used for a few hours to get the wine from the bottle to your mouth, so they're safe. PROS: design and appearance, sturdiness, price. The con shown below could turn out to be a pro because we'll be able to fill the glass half-full for breathing space. CONS: Pretty big, at 11.5 ozs. If you keep filling them to the top, you'll get drunk pretty fast. We continue to use them for the reasons cited above: appearance, sturdiness, and price. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Everyday Glasses
Style: UNIT
I absolutely love these glasses. The blown glass is crystal clear and sparkling and has a nice ringing tone when struck. The stems are sturdy and very comfortable in the hand. The rims are laser-cut. I had considered getting the next size down, but I'm so pleased I got these. The size of the bowl related to the size of the stem is aesthetically pleasing (to me, at least-- your mileage may vary). They arrived in perfect condition (though I know that Amazon would have made it right if they hadn't). It's called a burgandy glass (not a burgundy glass, for whatever reason), but I use mine mostly for white wine, and occasionally red. I think it would serve well as a water goblet, as well. I love wine, but don't have the cabinet space or the inclination to buy a different glass for every different wine I drink (that'd be a whole lotta glasses!). These are solid, all-around everyday glasses that serve a variety of purposes. They have to go on the top shelf of my cabinets due to their height (they're slightly taller than my old glasses), but I'm fine with that. In fact, I wouldn't trade these for my old ones if you paid me twice what they cost. I don't think there's a better wine glass for the money. I would have expected to pay far more than I did. Cheers! ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Purchase
Style: UNIT
It was finally time to replace our 'hodge podge' collection of wine glasses. I wanted a medium-sized glass that would be good with red or white as we entertain quite a bit. Read numerous reviews across several brands before buying the Michelangelo 11.5 oz. I was a little concerned about whether they would be too heavy (look cheap), but am so glad I listened to the good reviews. First, the pictures do not do justice. The shape of this glass is lovely and elegant - beautifully proportioned (I don't buy Riedel as I do not care for their designs) and the blown glass is brilliant. They are not flimsy, but do not at all feel thick or clunky - I am not worried about a slight tap cracking the glass. The size, for me, is perfect. It holds as much wine as you could want in a single pouring, is not too tall for a normal shelf or a wine glass rack, and fits easily in the dishwasher. Have not have any issues with breakage in my dishwasher and the glasses come out sparkling - no clouding. I bought 16 and am very glad I did. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, versatile glasses. A little problem resolved well by Apex
Style: UNIT
Luigi Bormioli Michelangelo Masterpiece Wine Glasses, Set of 4 Have had a set of four, and wanted to get more. The nice thing about these glasses is they are a hybrid of sorts; being suitable for both red and white. I was aware from another review that the latest manufacture is slightly taller than the older ones, but it's not an issue for me. The delivery time from Apex was quick, and the glasses were well packaged and survived their journey. There was an initial disappointment, however, in that two of the four glasses have slightly curved bases, causing them to rock a bit: disconcerting, and wouldn't make for a good presentation to guests. Also there's the greater chance of spillage or breakage. I contacted Apex noting that the glasses' namesake, Michelangelo wouldn't tolerate such a flaw. Apex readily agreed, and as of my writing this, Apex is sending out two new ones. I, like many sensible people, appreciate customer service like this, which also encourages me to purchase more items from Apex. They stand behind what they sell; it is the reasonable and decent thing to do. Bravo! ... show more
