  • Stay within the load limits, use WD-40 and/or a quality 'dry' lube to avoid corrosion.
Size Name: 2 Ton
The come along I received is a very solid 2ton (as listed) capacity HD cable winch puller. There appears to be an issue on the consistency of assembly QC amongst some reviewers, but happy to say that mine works just fine though being new when I received it, I had to lube it a bit and 'break it in' so to speak to work as smoothly as it does now. My process was to attach it between a couple of trees using NON kinetic tow straps, put on some tension, and let it sit out in the sun for a couple of days during the good weather we had last month. This let me conform the cable to the winch a bit, similar to my big electric steel cable winches which involves unspooling the entire length of the cable then slowly and deliberately winding it back in under tension (usually pulling the vehicle they're mounted on) making sure all the time to avoid any 'looseness' in the cable or crossing rows etc. Same thing applies with these though few people take the time to do it anymore:(. As. I mention this one is built pretty stout, especially for a 2 tonner, I've some 5k and even 6k rated come alongs that looked very VERY similar...of course once you graduate to the 4 and 5 ton ones, its a whole new ballgame:). One safety matter I feel obliged to relate: These winches are NOT intended for vertical lifts or suspending heavy loads, PERIOD. The mechanisms are NOT adequately designed to prevent accidental release which WILL likely result in serious bodily injury if not death when heavily loaded. Personal safety is ALWAYS 'job one' anytime you're fooling around with serious weight. I was once in a hospital emergency ambulance reception area when they brought in a young farm boy who had been seriously injured, (crushed ribs and shattered bones) when a ranch hand had decided to jury rig a flat bed's boom lift with a come along to sub for the integrated electric winch had previously failed and had not yet been repaired/replaced. What made it worse, the fellow in the truck operating the come a long wasn't the one torn up, it was the kid standing below steadying the load while on it's way up. One look at the kid when they brought him in and I would've placed money against him making it. Fortunately, hospital trauma teams, surprisingly often, manage to perform their OWN 'miracles':) My point is just don't do it. Anyway, back to this Come Along. All in all it's a good representative of the genre. Accordingly I'm giving it 4 stars and a RECOMMENDED rating. Value wise just remember the cable is only 7.2 feet so if you're thinking of using it for say vehicle recovery level pulls, then you're going to want a NON kinetic recovery strap (doesn't stretch) or preferably two, so you'll find it much easier and faster to reset the lines as you get your pull closer to your objective:) ... show more

  • works good
Size Name: 2 Ton
This 2 ton come along works nicely. I have a few already. I’d like to keep one in my truck for a just in case scenarios. It functions and works just like it should. I just added a little lubrication to it to make sure it moves properly. They are a little stiff at first on the cable, but eventually will work easier the more you use them. I recommend this to anyone that has a truck to keep with you along with some straps or chains. ... show more

  • A decent come along with all the requisite parts.
Size Name: 2 Ton
It's $32 folks, I wasn't expecting really good and that's what I got. A couple of frustrating features need to be addressed. Somewhere in a land far away people are sitting on stools (I hope they have stools) with bins of parts and air tools to slap things like this together. I don't know if they raise the air pressure, give a couple cranks of some of this by hand since tighter is always better, right? They don't know if QC doesn't catch it. This is hastily assembled and they missed a couple opportunities to make it slick with no negative stars so listen up LLCC and read the other reviews and their issues. The frame for the handle to operate the pawl was overtightened and needs side spacers to allow it to operate smoothly. I ended up taking mine to the shop, chucking it up in a vise to operate it to run the cable to its length. Like all come alongs, there's a spring that pulls the pawl back so you can pull the cable to length when you change i's position. Push on the release lever and yank the cable. Nope. Something is too stiff. Where the ratchet hub meets the sides was way too tight. I took a screwdriver to it first and pried on it which helped but ultimately loosened the nylock nuts to give it some breathing room in the mechanism. That helped and even more prying did it better but it really needs spacer washers on the sides so the frame isn't pushed against the ratchet hub. This isn't complicated at all and we shouldn't have to modify a new item to get it to work but I will since I needed another come along around the ranch. You can, and I may, add washers at a later date but it works for now. Oh and splash some dry lube on it as well as that helped a bunch too. Otherwise, it will function for me for now but I'll work it later. Three stars guys, you coulda, woulda, shoulda done better with a few simple changes. ... show more

  • Bit stiff, but well made Bit stiff, but well made
Size Name: 2 Ton
Nice solidly made winch. I have no doubt it will be able to handle the capacity of weight I need for wood working in a garage, but suspect it would not have much trouble with a much larger amount. MY only real complaint is it is a bit rigid to use, may get better for time, but since it will not be used too frequently that will be a long time coming if that is the case. ... show more

  • Solid, useful winch Solid, useful winch
Size Name: 2 Ton
A come along winch is a very useful tool. I have used them for things like propping up a fallen fence to pulling a flatbed onto a truck frame. I would trust this winch with any of those tasks. It's well-built and functions well. In operation, I have noticed resistance when pulling the cable out on occasion. The spring-loaded toggle to release the gear works perfectly, but I noticed that a few times, the half-circle piece of metal in the back would sometimes catch a tooth. It's not a huge deal, but something that happened a few times. I would like to see the 2-Ton rating displayed somewhere on the tool. It only has a warning sticker on one side with safety reminders. With the minor notes, this is a nice winch that compares to others I've used in the past. For the price, I'd say it's a good deal ... show more

  • A great helping hand when needed.
Size Name: 2 Ton
This is a great value for someone who doesn't need to use a come-along very often. I purchased this because my UTV broke down, and I had to winch it onto the trailer to take it for repairs. It's great to have around for stuff like that. I thought 12 FT would be a good length cable, but it was shorter than I thought. I still like the unit and can recommend this brand, but it wasn't long before I was wishing I had spent a few bucks more for a longer cable. ... show more

  • Components are heavy-duty, but… Components are heavy-duty, but…
Size Name: 2 Ton
I found that the main winding gear did not spin freely, making unwinding the main cable very difficult. The gears on one side are rounded while the other is flat, and that’s where the teeth bound on the swing handle. What I did was disassemble that axis and insert a washer to provide a little bit of clearance. While that main gear was out I also banged it with a small sledge hammer in an effort to get some bend in the gear teeth to reduce binding. I could get the wheel to spin freely, and then I would say that this come-along worked as expected. Pull out the full length of cable to get a feel of that distance, as you may need an accessory strap or chain in a real life situation. A little light oil spray might be nice for storage. Better to test this before it’s really needed. ... show more
