I'm very happy with this cape -- and I'm pretty picky about my capes lol. I dress up every year and have several, but none were red. It's lightweight compared to other capes I've bought, but it's not sheer at all. It has a crushed velvet look to it. I also thought the hood was a very good size. Sometimes, they're so big that you have to clip it to make it stay - or they're so small that it's like wearing a hoodie. This was just the right size and stayed in place all night over my wig without a clip, but I had enough room so that it wasn't clinging to my head. For reference, I'm 5'7" and have about a 1/2 inch heel on in the picture.

This cloak is awesome! I just love wearing it! I love how it feels, and how it can completely encompass my body, giving me a mysterious vibr. I also love how long it is, and how it flows behind me, making me feel powerful. The closure is also nicely snug, and it has never come apart on me. I love the feeling of it blowing in the wind as well. The feeling of this cloak flowing around me is really satisfying, and it's also very warm. If I had to complain, the hood is a bit of a hassle to put on, and the closure tends to tug your neck if you aren't careful. It's definetly more than just a costume, it's something I can genuinely wear when no one's looking. It's just for me, and I'm glad I bought it!

I got this for my teenage daughter for her Little Red Riding Hood costume this Halloween (2012). She loves it! It was a little long for her, but she just trimmed off a couple of inches and it worked wonderfully. It wasn't too flimsy either so it seems like it will last for many Halloweens to come. Update 3/23/16: This cloak is still in excellent shape (3-1/2 years later) and we still love it. My daughter never hemmed the part that she trimmed off that first Halloween and it hasn't frayed or torn. True, it only gets used two or three times a year, but it gets dragged through the mud, stepped on, and then washed a few times and has still held up. The only thing I might change is adding a different clasp to it and that's just personal choice.
