This is a great hoop to have at home and a big upgrade from the portable hoop I used to have. Assembly wasn't without work and effort, but I was able to accomplish it without any major issues. Mounting was pretty straightforward using the manufacturer's instructions. It is sturdy and feels like a solid, quality hoop. The backboard has a solid rebound, and the height adjustment is super easy to use so both kids and adults can use it and have fun. It's easy to get excited and carried away when the basketball hoop arrives, but my strong recommendation is to read the instructions through at least once and to make sure you have all the right supplies and tools ready to go before starting. The biggest challenge with setup is to make sure that the pole is oriented exactly the way it needs to be while the concrete cures. This means both in terms of being plumb, as well as being twisted with the right orientation - there are two holes on the sides of the bottom piece that need to be perfectly parallel to the edge of your playing surface. When I was setting it up, I used fiberglass rod that fit nicely through the holes to help me align it. If you get this step wrong, your backboard will be askew compared to the edge of your playing surface. Other than that, this thing was a piece of cake to put together, as long as you have an extra helping hand. The backboard is flexi so should be plenty durable - we will have to see how it weathers after a few seasons outside. The rim is spring-loaded and can handle a passing dunk, though I absolutely would not hang on it. And lastly I would strongly recommend the lifetime brand overall based on comparisons between this and our old hoop, which was basically the cheapest one we could find and only lasted about a year. Already this one seems much more stable and hopefully durable. It's worth the extra expense to not have to replace your hoop, and the concrete base... ... show more

This thing is BEEFY. Most of the pieces are very heavy duty, powder-coated metal. There's a few plastic pieces but they are mostly trim. It's definitely bigger than I expected it to be... Not professional sized but bigger than I would expect for household use. The backerboard is shatterproof clear acrylic and has springs in the rim. It looks great. I've only put together half of it so far but I find the instructions to be very clear. The parts are either well labeled or easy enough to figure out with careful reading. It also tells you what tools you will need for each section, which includes wrenches of various sizes, a screwdriver, mallet, and more. I'd recommend a ratchet or it will take you forever. I spent about 1.5 hours assembling to get the backerboard and attachment points ready. Obviously, digging a hole and concreting is a big deal towards getting a serious, stable hoop. If you're a big time recreational player you'll like this hoop, but it is a time investment. ... show more

Putting this hoop in the ground felt like committing to a lifestyle choice rather than just buying sports equipment. The 54 inch backboard is a good size for driveway games, and the shatterproof material gives some peace of mind when shots get a little ambitious. Installation is not exactly a quick afternoon task, you’re dealing with digging, concrete, and patience. Once it’s set, though, it feels sturdy and ready for regular use. The overall design leans more practical than flashy, which works fine for everyday play. The Power Lift height adjustment is surprisingly easy to use, and it makes switching between players a lot less of a hassle. Being able to go from 7.5 to 10 feet without a struggle is a big plus, especially if different skill levels are involved. The Slam-It Pro rim has a bit of give, which helps with durability and makes things feel closer to a real court. Shots off the backboard are consistent enough, though it’s not quite the same as a professional glass setup. Still, it holds up well for casual and semi serious games. There are a few things worth noting before you get too excited. The installation process requires some effort and planning, so this isn’t a last minute project. The backboard, while durable, doesn’t have that premium rebound feel you’d get from higher end systems. Also, once it’s in, it’s not exactly going anywhere, so placement matters. This basketball hoop has been a fantastic addition for our family. The adjustable height is great because for adults and kids, everybody can enjoy it, and it has been especially fun playing outside with our extended family around the driveway. The 54-inch backboard is a really nice size, it gives a much more professional feel than smaller hoops. The appearance looks clean and high quality, and the rim feels solid during play. Assembly takes some time, but once it is set up, the hoop feels extremely stable and secure. The stability has been one of the best parts, even during more active games. Everything feels durable and built to last. This really seems like the kind of basketball hoop that will last forever. Great hoop and backboard. This is on the expensive side, especially for an in-ground, but i'd say that it is worth it. I love the large backboard, perfect for size for most players. I wouldn't recommend a backboard any smaller than this one. Instillation is a bit tricky, so make sure you are able to dig a big hole and mix concrete. The instructions make it very clear what you will need to create a safe installation, which is important, because you don't want the thing falling over on someone. Seems durable and is holding up well to the weather, and even hail. I overbuilt my foundation a little, just to be safe, and it is very stable.
