My stepdaughter, 7 years old, has recently taken up ice skating as a hobby (which baffles me since we live in the desert, but I digress). As you may know, children's feet grow faster than any weed. Buy a pair of shoes, and they might wear them for about a week before the big toe pokes through. Well, she wanted a pair of ice skates. Let's just say a pair from the local sporting goods store cost about a day's worth of pay, which is not what you want to do for something that is going to have a toe poking through it in a week! These skates are an amazing answer. ADJUSTABLE SIZES?! And at that, easy to adjust? Ordered right away. The box it was shipped in was pretty shredded (could use help on the packaging) but the skates themselves are pretty, have sparkles, blade covers, and are of a good quality. My son really wants to learn to skate. He was very excited when he received the ice skating shoes. I took my son to the skating rink to wear it the next day. He has been wearing it for a while and reflected that wearing this pair of skates is very comfortable, lighter than the usual rental, and a burden on the foot. The shoes are the right size and can be extended, so they include different sizes. Even though the child can grow up quickly, they also can wear them for a while, thus saving money.     • Adjustable Skates for Growing Skaters

Where were these when I was growing up? I would have been able to start skating so much earlier if I'd had these. My parents couldn't afford to buy me skates until I got older and my feet had stopped or at least slowed down growing. With the expense of everything going up, it's nice that there are products like this that allow you to get as much use out of them as possible. I like that they are hockey style skates that still have easy adjustment and securing features like ratchet buckles and hook and loop closure. Also, even though they are adjustable, it's nice that the size range isn't too wide. If it was too much, they would be way too loose or way too tight, depending on which end of the adjustment range you're on. For my needs, these are perfect. I'm using these as a way to both save money on rentals, and help motivate the kids to want to skate more. With their own set of skates, they're much more excited about going and practicing. We got these ice skates for our 8 year old son. He fell in love with ice skating last year after he went to a skating birthday party, so we decided to get him his own pair for this season! We're going to gift him skating lessons to go along with the skates. They may not be the most high quality but they're great for where he is in his skating journey. Plus he'll likely outgrow them quickly so it's a shame to spend a ton of money on something he'll only wear for one season. If your kid is a novice skater and wants to tool around on the ice without a huge financial commitment these skates are perfect for that. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. These skates fit a range of shoe sizes - we got the L which fits shoe sizes from 4-7. To make the skate larger, there is a button to push and then just slide the skate out. Once the foot is inside the skate, you can make it smaller if needed to adjust. This is so great because you don't have to buy multiple pairs of skates for the same child. They can hopefully (barring any giant growth spurts) wear these for a few years. I also think that the sizing is great for times when you might be wearing bulkier socks, and therefore can accommodate the bigger sock by increasing the size of the skate. The closure on the skate is a latch - which is so much nicer for a younger kid than lace-up skates. Overall, the quality of these looks really good. I would just be careful with the plastic buckle and not leave the skates outside when not in use so the plastic components don't break down with temperature fluctuations. ... show more

I purchased these a size up as I was expecting some concessions in comfort if I went the "right" size as she was just on the edge. Turns out, they're true to size and these will be a bit big so we may add extra socks. However! The adjustable nature of these skates allows for them to still fit her acceptably even though I ordered up. Since they're the bigger size, these will last her for years if she wants to keep them. Perhaps we'll update once the skating season has kicked off in full but for wearing around the house, they are comfortable and well-constructed. ... show more
