I figured I'd share my experience, since maybe some of you are considering buying a pair after the 511 chino. I'm reviewing this as 4 stars, only because the sizing on these is SO different between COLORS and fabric weights. Also I don't see smearing something that's a size issue- I just figured I'd share. Jean quality is awesome, look great, black is black. Buttons don't pop out too much, with a zipper that seems like it'll hold up forever. Quick Summary: I'm an average built cyclist with bigger thighs. 511 Chino Stretch- Not these, but same cut allegedly-amazing pant. Hugs my waist without being too tight, butt fits like a normal pant should? Fits my leg shape well. Thighs have that tight tailored look, tapers nicely over calves. 4.5/5? 511 Slim Fit Jean Black- So this was quite a weird one for me. I bought the 33x30 to test against the 32x30 chino. Felt like the seat, and waist was meant for fat egg shaped people, while the legs were freakishly tight. I thought it had to be a mistake so I drove to the Levi's store, and tried on the exact size. Same Problem. 32x30 has same fit. 511 Rigid Dragon Stretch- Not as stretchy as I thought they'd be, but in a 32x30 they fit slightly bigger than the Black 511. Again, way too tight of a hipster leg look. Cool for some people, but not what I was looking for. If you have a build like I do, I'd look into the 502 cut. It was odd how similar they felt to the 511 Chino. Just my opinion though guys!

I bought these jeans to give them a test. I have been a fiercely loyal banana republic jean wearer for years now. But the 511s are so nice that I've changed my allegiance. Pros: 1. The fit is perfect. 511s fit like a glove. They're definitely a slim fit, so expect that. If you're a gym rat and do a lot of squats be prepared for a tighter fit. 2. The color is great. They're a nice dark grey. You can dress up a little, or go super casual and they look like they were made for either occasion. 3. The price vs. BR just can't be beat 4. The quality is great. A medium weight jean, that isn't too hot, nor too flimsy. They feel like they'll last forever. Cons: none. They're nearly the perfect jean.

I have 2 pairs of 511s, one in the lighter Bear Grass, and the darker Rigid Dragon. Size 32x34. (small waist, long skinny legs) I love the colors, I feel like Springsteen when I wear the faded jeans. The issue I ran into is that they both fit a lot differently before and after washing. Before washing, the rigid dragon was rather loose and the Bear grass was pretty tight, almost like skinny jeans. After washing, the Rigid Dragon became much tighter and the Bear grass stayed the same. Both were on the tight side for me. Both look very nice! But be prepared for shrinkage, even if you wash cold and air dry.

These particular 511 slim fit are a thinner than denim fabric and run about 2 inches smaller in the waist than Gap jeans. For basis of comparison, these fit nearly identical to Gap Slim jeans. If you are used to a roomier thigh and rear end, these are not the jeans for you. The zipper is short which means they are a lower rise than other Levi's. My skinny long legged tween can wear these just fine. They were made for him. My husband can't stand these because he has muscular legs and they simply don't accommodate his thighs. If you have slender legs and a smaller tushie, this 511 will probably work for you. If you prefer more room in the legs try on the 514's in a store and see if they work before ordering them blind. Hope this helps because we did a lot of trying on in several stores before we figured out who can wear what in Levi's. They launder beautifully and don't fade or bag out in the knees so you can wear them a few times before they start to look ratty. Lastly on my Levi's lesson, the black denim 511's are thicker fabric, more of a winter weight and take longer to dry in the dryer. The black 514's are thinner denim and tend to dry super fast in the dryer. Good luck!

I've been buying overpriced jeans from the Gap for the last 10 years because it's always been hard to find my size. These are my new favorite jeans. I bought 4 pairs of them in different colors after trying on the first. The "stretch" is definitely there in the waist but you don't really feel that fabricy sort of feel all over if you know what I mean. It's more of a denim feel which is what I want in my jeans. They are slim fit but they're definitely not skinny. They fit great across the board except the waist was a little looser than I was expecting. I'd been buying 30x32 jeans since I was 16 and recently that size had been feeling tight on me. With these 511s I actually felt like they were a bit loose in the waist and I have to wear a belt again. Granted, I did lose a little weight but not enough to account for the difference in how these fit on my waist. So just be warned that even though the pants will fit you overall, you may have to wear a belt with them to avoid plumber's crack.

These fit but just barely. I'm a standard 33 waist, 30 inseam. These were so close to being too small they made me nervous. Would they fit after their first wash and dry? Turns out they would, but just a little more snug. I bought another pair in a different color and I wasn't so lucky. Seems the manufacturing in Egypt just isn't dependable enough. If you buy Levi's 511's via Amazon? Be ready to buy 3 pairs and send about 50% back because of poor cuts. If that's worth it for the price, then great. If you're not willing to return, get ready to be disappointed.

I tried shopping locally and not finding these particular Jeans in my size. After two attempts at ordering through the retailers online store, I received the wrong size twice. At that point, I did what I should have done in the first place, I went to Amazon.com for the exact jeans I wanted. The color is very close to the picture, the fit is just right, the jeans are very comfortable. I have no hesitation in giving the Levi's slim fit jeans a 5 star rating. It goes without saying I would order them again!
