Description

Close your eyes. Think “jeans.” Now open. They were 501s, right? With a classic straight leg and iconic styling, they’re literally the blueprint for every pair of jeans in existence — burned into the world’s collective cortex ever since Levi Strauss (the man himself!) invented them in 1873. To this day they’ve never gone out of style. And they never will.

  • bought three pairs of these jeans, and they are great!
Right after Christmas of 2013, i bought three pairs of these Levis jeans. At 40 dollars with free shipping and tons of Christmas gift cards to spare, i couldn't pass up the deal! The Colors i bought were, Rinsed playa, Black stretch, and Rigid grey. The first pair i received were the Rigid grey, and they looked and felt great! and my girlfriend loved the color on me. I have a shorter yet athletic built standing at slightly over 5'6'' and 145 pound, the 31x30 in Rigid grey fit very well, not even needing a belt. They were not too skinny, i am able to pull the material from my thighs and show that they are some what loosly fit, but not baggy!! They have some break at my ankles, but with shoes on its the exact look i want..slim fit, but not tight! The second pair i received, were the Rinsed playa. I like that the color is a mix between grey and blue. I like slightly darker colors, so not a big fan of traditional blue jeans. These were a great blue substitute for me! These jeans were slightly different from the Rigid grey, in that the material is slightly thinner it feels like, and the jeans them selves are slightly more loose all around...its not really a bad thing, as i still feel it provides the look i want, but if i could order them again, i may go with the 30x30 and not the 31x30 like the rigid grey. Overall i am still very satisfied with the particular color and the feel and fit of the Rinsed playa. The last color were the black stretch, these are slightly thicker than the other two colors, but its kinda nice. the 31x30 fit just as well as the rigid grey, so no surprises, and the black is very dark and nice. The black stretch seems more consistent with the rigid grey. So overall just very satisfied with the look, feel, and fit of these jeans. Yes the Rinsed playa is slightly thinner, and the black stretch is slightly thicker, but i still feel satisfied with the look and feel these jeans provide. I do not think that the slight change in feel, is enough to not buy these jeans! I am very pleased. ... show more

  • I've just accepted that jeans aren't made like they used to be and I'm happy enough
Size: 31W x 32L Color: (New) Dark Hollow - Stretch
UPDATE: After wearing these for about 8 months, maybe 50% of the time, they are still holding up decently. However, I've realized I really don't like the fit and don't find them comfortable like I thought I would. They are nearly skin-tight on my thighs, and there's not enough room in the crotch, which is probably due in part to the low waist. I'm just tired of always fidgeting in them trying to get comfortable when they pull on my boxer briefs and bunch up the legs and whatnot. I tried a number of different fits in both Levi and Amazon's Goodthreads brand, and it seems that all of the slimmer fits just aren't comfortable to me for the same reason I described. The regular or straight fits, on the other hand, are just a little too baggy, especially around the ankles. I finally found that the athletic fit is what I'm looking for. Based on the pictures and description, it sounded like it would be for huskier guys, but it turns out they're exactly what I'm looking for. They have just enough more room in the thighs and crotch that I don't feel like I'm stuck to jeans like I did before. I tried both the Levi 541 athletic fit and the Goodthreads (by Amazon) selvedge athletic fit, and while they were pretty similar, I slightly prefer the Goodthreads ones, and that's what I'll be wearing now. So, for anybody who's tall and fairly slim and doesn't like skin tight clothing, my recommendation is to check out the athletic fit in jeans (whatever brand, really) if you still like a slimmer fit but aren't happy with the usual slim fit jeans. I really, really wanted jeans that were made of at least medium weight denim and felt tough, but it seems almost impossible now unless you spend $100+ on jeans. Everything is lightweight and stretch now. I'm tired of fighting it. I've just accepted that regular jeans are no longer about durability and are more about comfort and looks. I mostly just wear them to the office and going out and whatnot anyway, so that's fine. I will say the stretch does make them very comfortable. When I'm working on my car or otherwise doing things where my pants are going to get dirty and stand up to some abuse, I still wear my old pair of more durable jeans. These are not sufficient for real physical work in my opinion. But as everyday pants, they're just fine. I'll probably have to replace them every year or so when they wear out, but for $40 it's not so bad. I really like the dark blue color, and I've come to like the slim fit a lot. I'm 6 feet tall and about 175 pounds and fairly thin. They don't look like skinny jeans, but they do look slim, and I like it. I wish it was easy to buy jeans made the way they used to make them, but I've stopped expecting something else in $40 jeans, and they're good enough for what I need them for. Given the options, I like my Levi's and will keep buying them. I've tried Lee and a couple other smaller brands, but they weren't any better. And some part of me does like the classic Levi's brand just for its own sake. ... show more

  • I love these jeans
Size: 28W x 30L Color: Sequoia - Stretch
These jeans are really good. They could use a little bit more elastic. But they’re comfortable fit. And Levi’s is quality jeans.

  • Great price and quality as always, slim around ankles but NOT skinny jeans!
Levi 511 Slim Fit Jeans, Size 33x34 It is very difficult to find 33 waist, 34 inseam jeans in stores, let alone jeans that are cut in a fashionable way and affordable. Enter the Levi 511's. I have two pairs of Levi 514s, which are slim straight fit jeans. Although nice, the 514s are too baggy around the ankles in my humble opinion. The 511s looked like they would rectify this problem, and they do. Except they can be rather tight at the ankle which makes it more snug if you have big feet like me (Size US 12) and are trying to slip them through. The Midnight Oil color was hard to discern online, but in real life they are a very very very dark blue that is almost black. I liked this color because it came with a black leather patch at the back and dark grey stitching. The sizing is spot on, I always buy 1 or 2 sizes larger than my actual waist measurement because this gives me comfort room in the butt and groin area which is important for men. Overall: 5/5 stars. Great price, more modern style but definitely not ultra-tight "skinny jeans". If you desire a bit more room at the ankles, look at the 514s but the 511s are not ultra tight. UPDATE: 18 DEC 2014 I bought another pair of the 511s, in 34x34. The pocket/hip area is tighter than the 514s, but the fit on the thighs and legs are much cleaner than the 514s. A friend had said the 514s looked like bootcut jeans. The newer 511s have 1% elastane or spandex, while the older 511s were 100% cotton. ... show more
