Shopping for pants in always a challenge for my 10 year old who is in the 90th percentile for height and 20th percentile for weight. If it fits around her waist they are too short, if they are the right length, the won't stay up. These jeans do a good job of balancing the two. Yes I had to use the elastic band on the inside to make them tighter around the waist, but the band works well in making sure they fit. I got the size 10 for my slender & petite 12yo daughter, and the waist was too big, which is pretty standard for her. She didn't love the style anyway, so we're going to give them to a friend. Our 9-year-old slipped these Levi’s flare jeans on, struck a pose in the hallway mirror, and instantly looked like she was ready to take the stage. The dark “Such a Doozie” wash is rich and even, and the retro high-rise plus subtle flare give her just enough vintage attitude without feeling costume-y. She’s never felt cooler, and we’ve never seen her smile so wide over a pair of pants. Function matches the fashion. The denim has the perfect hint of stretch, so climbing monkey bars or doing cartwheels at recess doesn’t leave her tugging or complaining. The adjustable inner waistband cinches in for a just-right fit now, yet still leaves growing room for the school year ahead—no bulky belt required and zero gap in the back. After three washes the color hasn’t faded and the flare keeps its shape with no twisting or bagging at the knees.
