This perfume is downright dangerous

Okay, hear me out. My whole life I have had probably a handful of perfumes at any given time and then maybe 10 or 15 body sprays. While Yara Moi has its lovers and its haters this was the first Lattafa I ever purchased probably thanks to Redolescence's review on YouTube. It came in the mail and I was still at work as I work from home and I sprayed some on my wrists and I think a bit on my collar and then spent the rest of the day smelling myself and thinking I smelled divine. By the time 4:00 rolled around I had already used my breaks to pick out two more scents..... And therein began my addiction. It was Middle Eastern perfumes like Lattafa that opened up a whole world of adventure and dopamine rushes LOL here I am about 180 perfumes later. That's right, I'm admitting 180 perfumes and out of the maybe 40 Lattafa I have 2, two are not my favorite. Here's the thing when I got Moi in the mail it smelled amazing right away. While sitting on the shelf it matured and it got stronger and has more longevity but the scent overall hasn't changed much. Should you Branch into another scent from them, just remember that first sniff may not be the way that perfume really smells. Look up what people call maceration which is really maturation. Go spray out your straw outside usually about 10 sprays and then let it sit on the back of your shelf for a week maybe two weeks and then check in on it once a week. I have had perfumes do complete 180s once the contents in that bottle settles down and blends. I think part of the cost effectiveness of Middle easterns include some time they may need maturing on your shelf. I will say it is very much worth it because if you can find one that's a great dupe for something that is maybe five six times the price you're probably going to find out it's stronger, it lasts longer, and you just made room for six bottles for the price of one. I'm one of those people that go nose blind really quickly so having a collection has always been on my docket but now my collection is humongous and I buy little bottles so I can decant and give them as gifts to like my sisters or my nieces so they can smell something prior to wearing it or maybe just wear it from that 5 ml decant for 2 weeks and enjoy it. The bottles are super cheap. I'll stop trying to sell you and collecting I'm just going to recommend this it's bright and happy you definitely can smell the white florals I would say yes to fruity but I don't think I could put my finger on what kind of fruit. ... show more

First Lataffa

I received my bottle of Yara Moi in the mail today under the full understanding that ME fragrances need to mature/macerate, so I sprayed a few sprays on my hand and put it back into the box and into a drawer to prepare the juice. I didn't have high expectations right out of the box but really I don't know why I didn't have high expectations because this fragrance is absolutely stunning! I'm usually more of a dark patchouli dark fruity kind of girl, like Nest Black Tulip type scents, but I have been branching out recently. I smelled this on a co-worker and I followed her down the hall. I had to have this. I'm so glad she didn't gatekeep this fragrance. The patchouli isn't noticeable to me on the drydown yet. This might be an excellent thing for some people, for me I will simply put on some patchouli body oil before use or wait my two weeks and then give it another shot because I'm obsessed with that note. The sillage is intense even with two little squirts on my hand. I smell it so strongly. It's just a powerhouse scent. I can't wait to see how long it lasts. I might even take it out tomorrow and wear it all day just to try it. It's so pretty. I don't know why people put so much effort into hating Lataffa like that but dang. she is literally the moment. i purchased this blindly and im extremely happy with my purchase. just a touch musky but amazing tones of floral/ fruity accents. i still smell it on me even after 5 hours, it smoothens itself out to smell natural overtime. love love love.

Got husband’s attention

This is the only perfume that my husband stopped when walking by and told me how nice that was. I usually have to illicit a response but not this time. I really like it to. I wish it would stay with me longer. The bottle is gorgeous.

Offensive then delightful

I have never been this thoroughly satisfied by a blind buy. The dry-down is beautiful—not overpowering, yet the longevity is impressive. The bottle itself feels substantial: glass nestled in plastic, but it doesn't read as cheap. The lid snaps shut with a responsive, satisfying click, and the weight gives it a premium presence on display. Even the bottle's own scent when you remove the cap is lovely. The nozzle delivers a fine, controlled spray that's easy to direct. That said, the opening is brutal. The first spray hits like harsh chemicals—a nauseating, almost headache-inducing blast of artificial floral and sweet notes that have nothing to do with jasmine, pear, or ripe stone fruit. It smells more like someone put white funeral home flowers through a centrifuge with Ziploc bags, a red permanent marker, and discount nail polish remover. The scent hangs heavy in the room, and for 40 seconds to four minutes, it decimates your olfactory bubble. I was tempted to open the windows and wash it off immediately—but I'm glad I didn't. After a few moments, the perfume melted into my skin, and the amber and sandalwood finally made their subtle entrance. Caramel settles in about ten minutes later, followed shortly thereafter by cinnamon and other woodsy notes. Jasmine isn't forward, but it is slightly noticeable in the sillage. On skin, it's actually divine. The pink pepper comes through in an effervescent, interesting way—and it works. The black currant holds everything together without making things too dark. It is alittle too sweet and heavy to work as a summer scent but it would be beautiful on a spring afternoon . Overall, it eventually does work with my chemistry. The skin feel is not ideal- it is as if you've just sprayed yourself with something carcinogenic, and 20 minutes in, there's still a residue on my wrist—though not in the crook of my arm. Thirty minutes have elapsed and there is no residue but there is an astringent feeling to the skin and I'm still tempted to air out the room itself. That part feels offensive. My advice: spray it in a different room at least an hour before you need to appear in public. Walk around for a few moments after spraying, then put on your attire and go about your business. The good smell lasts for many hours, and the sillage is beautiful. The wait is worth it for my purposes. Hours later, I forget I'm even wearing it, then reposition and catch a faint waft of the most beautiful blend. After 24 hours, the scent is still on me—in an intimate setting, you could bamboozle someone into believing it's just consequence of the natural pleasantries of your routine endeavors. But if you're looking for a beautiful peach, pear, or jasmine-forward fragrance straight out the bottle, this will not be your go-to. ... show more

Similar to my Favorite! MK Perfect Intense

Ohhh my. So in love. I wanted to try another Yara (love love Tous) and when I read that this was similar to my signature scent MJ Perfect Intense, I ordered this instantly. They are very similar! I feel this is a little bit sharper where Perfect Intense is softer. Strange there is no almond note in this (apparently the lataffa site has almond in notes, so Fragrantica might just be wrong) Regardless, the Jasmine & Sandalwood are also really coming through just like Perfect Intense. So yes, solid Dupe! However I did order Precious Gold Maison Alhambra which is suppose to be an exact dupe of Perfect Intense. This is also similar to MK Wonderlust, another fav of mine, and very nutty, jasmine, and sandalwood forward. I love the caramel here as well, just adds to the warmth and coziness. Almost buttery, like Perfect Intense. Just like all Arab brands, it performs! A little will go a long way and you just can’t beat the price for the performance. I’m really getting into Arab scents for this reason. So many dupes of my favorite designers frags and they are cheaper and even stronger. It’s like a no brainer!
