These come in a colorful box with the red and blue guns in individual cloth bags and the 2 display vests in another cloth bag. A small instruction card is included in the box. Before you can use them, you have to use a small Phillips head screwdriver to remove some screws in order to access the battery compartments. Each gun takes 3 AAA batteries and each vest takes 3 more AAA batteries, so you'll need 12 AAA batteries in total to be able to play. Batteries are NOT included. Once you install all the batteries and screw the battery covers back on, you can turn everything on. The power switch for the vest is on the back of the vest. The power switch for the gun is by the trigger. The lower button by the trigger is to set the team color you want, and the upper button is to set the firing mode. The gun "talks" to you and tells you what mode you have selected. Once you pick a color and firing mode you "load" the gun by pressing up on the bottom bar. Then you shoot your vest to sync it up with your gun. The lights on the vest will change to the color for your team and the gun will tell you the game is ready to begin. By default the vest will show 15 "lives". You can use the buttons on the back of the vest to add or subtract lives to make the game shorter or longer. After all that you are ready to play. When you are hit by a shot from another player, the vest will vibrate and the number will go down depending on what your opponent picked for their firing mode. Different firing modes take a different number of "hearts" off your score. Once your score gets to zero it says game over. You have to turn the vest off and then on again to play another game. When you are firing, the gun makes different sounds based on the firing mode you selected. The firing mode also controls how many shots you get before you have to reload by pressing the bottom bar. These are quite fun to play with, but they are not quiet toys, so if you live in an apartment you may need to find somewhere outside to play or risk disturbing the neighbors. Note: Each piece requires 3 AAA batteries - that are not included. So if you use both guns and vests, 12 batteries. My rating does not consider this, btw. Price is worth it. Nice constructed plastic guns and vests that a pretty resistant to normal banging around, dropping, etc.. Still worked fine after dropping the gun several times. 4 gun modes which can make it fair for adults vs. kids, etc.. Ya, the kids only get single shot, cause the parents are going to need all the help with machine gun mode. The other two are ray blaster and plasma blaster. Which btw, make for really cool sounding battles! You can have super long matches if you want, vest goes from 1 to 99.. again, ways to handicap if you'd like. You can even play gun vs. gun with these - nice! The gun has health indicators - 3 of them which is 9 health points. Gun vs. Vest is the more traditional approach. Oh.. another thing is depending on the gun mode you're in, you have only so many shots per mode, thus will have to use the reload button. And each gun mode type, takes a different amount of life. So like Plasma will take 3 life, machine gun 2, laser is also 2 and single shot of course only 1. If you have another set - btw, this comes with 2 guns/2 vests.. you can have 4 teams: Yellow, Red, Blue and White with unlimited amounts of players per team. So you can go beyond just another set. Range is very good. up to 196 feet. I never tested at that distance, but at 100 feet was fine - you do have to be accurate at that range with your aiming, which is perfect. Overall, GREAT product for not just the kids, but the whole family. They designed it very well to make compensations for all levels of play to make it fair! Nice work! ... show more

This Star Team Laser Tag set by Winyea Toys is so much fun!!! We (three adults) tested this set on Christmas night and had a blast (pun intended). I can only imagine how much fun kids would have with this! When I opened the box, I was surprised to find a foam sheet that protects the guns and sensors which are also in their own bags. Each item takes three AAA batteries, so be prepared to have 12 to power up both sensors and guns. What's included in the box I received? Two guns (blue and red), two sensors (blue and red) with "vest" straps, and a detailed instruction manual. For instance, there is a little trick to getting the battery covers off of the guns that is explained clearly in the manual. The guns are very comfortable in the hand, and the guns and sensors are very attractive and seem sturdy. The components don't feel cheap and are well-designed with lots of functionality. The lights and sounds enhance the experience. There are several options for game play, but what I liked most is that the sensors and guns are not attached to one another. This allows you to play cat and mouse, where the person(s) wearing the sensor(s) can be hunted separately from those using the guns. It's a great variation on the traditional game where each person has a sensor and a gun. I like that you have to actually accurately aim at the sensor. Some sets just require general aiming, but this set is more like using iron sights. You can get a set with four guns and four sensors from this company too. That will let you play as four separate teams. Overall, I would definitely recommend buying this set either for your own family or as a gift.
