This dress and the fit was exactly what I was hoping for, and even exceeded expectations. But one surprise element to this dress that wasn't noted in the fabric content, which the garment description shows as 100% cotton, is that it has a light lining that's definitely synthetic. But the lining has a nice, silky feel, making this already comfortable dress slip on like a dream. In the front, the lining starts below the front bodice, at the gathered part of the dress, and in the back, it starts right under the neck yoke. I was worried that the lining would make this otherwise cotton dress a bit hot, especially on the back if you're sitting against something like a hot car seat for any length of time. But that's not the case. Even in almost 100-degree weather, the dress stayed cool. And the lining keeps the dress from being too sheer, so I'm glad it's there, even if it's not cotton. This is a pretty forgiving style, so I bought it in a size larger than I usually wear. I'm 5'5'', and it came just about a couple of inches below my knee, which is perfect for me. The fact that it drapes a bit better in the larger size actually makes it more flattering and slimming than if the fit at the top was a bit less loose. The dress is surprisingly well made, and the cotton fabric is soft, has great movement and is not at all stiff. Though having previously worked for years in women's apparel, I expect that certain fabric colors may have slightly different textures. And as is often the case with less expensive clothing, the quality of the fabric can change from garment to garment -- whether due to the dye colors used or changes in fabric sourcing -- even if it's the same make and style. So I'll be prepared for some variations when I order more, because I definitely want this dress in more colors. 7/13/24 UPDATE: It's been sweltering here in NorCal for the past couple of weeks, and this dress is all I want and can bear to wear in this heat. Even though the light lining isn't cotton, the dress is still cool and comfortable, and the lining allows the body of the dress to drape nicely. Just received delivery of my third of these dresses, and after wearing the previous two quite a bit, I really appreciate the light texture to the fabric, which keeps it from appearing wrinkled, even if you take an unplanned, heat-induced nap in it. Woke up and the dress was surprisingly unwrinkled! Oh, and now that I have it in three colors, I can report that the quality of the fabric and construction is consistent with each order. Also -- can't stress this enough -- buying it a bit oversized is actually more sliming than having it too tight over the bodice. And due to the slight drape of the lined body of the dress, it doesn't balloon out and make you look larger. Be brave and go big!

As a bigger lady, I often find that clothes don’t always fit as I would like. This summer dress is lightweight, very comfortable and, it looks great! I wore it on vacation where it was very hot and humid. I never felt like this dress was too heavy. As a matter of fact, it was perfect for that climate. I would definitely recommend this one!

the green is a nice, light subtle color. the gently patterned fabric is very nice, and the fit OK as recommended . i am 5' 6 1/2 " and about 180 pounds. 2X was suggested. it is a bit large , but i did not want something too tight on the bust, so i am happy. it is longer than expected, hitting just below knee, but it should be easy enough for me to take up the hem a few inches. not sure i like the non cotton lining. it does make it less see through which is a plus, but it also feels like it might get sticky on hot days or for 'beach cover' purposes. have not tested it out yet. OTOH it is possible the lining helps the dress drape better. fortunately the lining does not go all the way to the hem..so i won't have to mess with the lining when i take up the hem. might even remove it if it bugs me, but for now, this is a lovely garment.

168-170 lbs, 38 B, 5’6”, 73 years old, have a tummy and bottom heavy. I purchased size L based on my actual size for tops. This dress fit perfectly. It is not too tight across the bust and is loose in the waist and hips as shown in the picture. Thankfully, it doesn’t look like a maternity dress. The waist is dropped, not empire and the gathering at the waist is very subtle and “hides the tummy. The L hits me just below the knees which is perfect since I didn’t want to show my knees. The sleeves are 3/4 with loose elastic and very comfortable. The fabric is lightweight cotton, has the feel of linen, and the body of the dress is lined so no slip needed. The dress comes vacuum packed so of course it was wrinkled out of the bag. Rather than wash it (I don’t have a washer and dryer!) I held the dress under a cold shower and hung to dry. I love the fit and quality so much, I just ordered the navy blue dress. Highly recommend even for ladies of a certain age.

I returned this as it looked like I was wearing a very thin bag. The material is like that fabric they put around shoes or mid-end purse dust covers. I imagine it’s a fine, lightweight cover up but it doesn’t cover much and you’d definitely burn through it. My husband poo pooed it as soon as he saw it. I like the melony pink color. It wasn’t super soft and it seemed like it would pull and pull pretty fast. It isn’t stretchy but is flowy like a bag and oversized. It was wrinkly but would most likely be unwrinkled in a matter of seconds in heat and humidity as it is so thin. You may like it as a cover up in the shade but probably not if you want any shape at all.

This is definitely loose fit. I wear petite lengths and it hits me just below the knee. I might hem it. It is mixed materials but does seem lightweight for hot weather. It has been really comfortable to throw on when I want to look a little nicer Ben shorts or jeans, but not too much work! After wearing it a couple times, I think I want to get another in a different color! It is easy to wash and wear good for travel. Not stretchy.
