The shims are the right thickness to fit but they are not rigid enough to unlock even the most basic masterlock. This is a shim that got stuck and even after opening the lock with the key it would not budge. Using tweezers, the remnant the you see in the photo is all that could be retrieved. After opening it with the key, the remnants inside were shredded and couldn't be removed. The lock is now partially damaged. ... show more

I used this product to rekey some lock cylinders that I did not have keys for. I wanted to have all the keys for my outside doors keyed alike. The shims are cleanly cut and slip into space with no problem, they are not quite stiff enough for stubborn pins, they bend with even light pressure. It would be nice if they came in different lenths

Metal this thin simply can't last that long. In other words, they are semi-disposable. Expect no more than 2-3 uses out of each one, but that's as expected.
