This KVM must be used with HDMI it can't be used as just a USB switchbox! This was not documented anywhere in advertisement or in the manual. If an active HDMI cable is not plugged into one of the ports the unit will not detect the port. I spent time on with tech support and they didn't know this either. We believed the unit was defective and sent another one. If found it by dumb luck after getting the replacement. Now I have it setup I actually like it a lot. So much so, that I decided to purchase the first one (instead of returning it). I plan to use it on my game consoles. It is metal and very solid. the switch button feels decent. Having 4 ports on the front is great. There is no power cord required and I can charge my phone on the USB ports. When switching, I have no loss of signal quality and my USB devices switch very quickly (My old KVM had some lag before the device could pick up it reconnected, sometime it took several attempts). I purchased this to replace a KVM that I use to switch between my work computer and home computer. Since my monitor has two inputs, I did not need the HDMI but wanted to use the 4 USB ports on the front. (mouse, keyboard, camera). ... show more

    • Works fine, but leaves out some signal when the sources are powered off.
I got this so I could switch between my PC and Nintendo Switch dock, without having to fiddle with the buttons on my monitor. It works great, but I quickly learned that when everything is turned off, the KVM still outputs some amount of signal that makes my monitor loop on and off. It's possible that it's my specific monitor. I have not tested with other monitors. But I would think that if there's no signal input into a KVM, that there shouldn't be any output at all. ... show more

This works great. It sits between a Mac mini and a dell windows machine. It flips back and forth seamlessly with with sharing of a few usb devices such as keyboard mouse and printer.

    • Works Great for setting up Raspberry Pi to run Headless
I only use this to connect my Raspberry PI projects up long enough to set them up to run headless then i disconnect them and use VNC to control and view them. But it is outstanding for that purpose.

This KVM switch works well with my setup, with one exception. I have a (wired) keyboard, mouse, USB headset and USB camera, and an HDMI connected 32" 4k monitor connected to 2 laptops. Pressing the button and everything switches in a second or so. Yeah, when switching, all the open windows on the 32" display move to the laptop display, so you end up moving windows around a lot during this switching, but no big deal. The annoying thing for me is when I am done working for the night and the computers go into sleep mode, the monitor goes into this endless loop trying to sense the video signal. In the end, I went back to my Rosewill VGA KVM - https://amzn.to/3h1ABVK - and just split my screen by plugging in HDMI cables from the laptops into the monitor (didn't use the VGA connnections), using the Rosewill to switch the mouse, keyboard and headset between the 2 laptops with a simple button press. ... show more

Switch works as intended. Connected supplied cables, added my own hdmi cable from switch to monitor, plugged-in wired usb keyboard, printer, camera and wireless mouse. Switched-on my 2 computers (win 10 and win 11) and monitor and hole system immediately started to work-no problems at all.
