When we had only one child, we could put them on the floor in a napper or on a pillow designed for a small child. These solutions were no longer practical for our second child as we couldn't have the baby in easy reach of our ~2 yr. old. We needed a safe place to park the baby while we were in the kitchen area. The first thing we did was pull out our extra/travel pack-and-play. This certainly works, but it has a very large footprint so we didn't have a good place to put it. The Kolcraft bassinet is a much better solution. As you can see in the attached picture, it still has enough space for the baby, but a much smaller overall footprint. Note that the bassinet surface is lower than the "napper" on our pack and play but higher than the play area. If you don't have a napper on your pack and play, this will save you leaning down as far. The opposite is true, of course, in our case. When it comes to "travel" the product is definitely a mixed bag. Unlike pack-and-plays, some assembly and disassembly is definitely required. Each of the four legs come in two pieces. That said, I've had occasion to battle an unfamiliar pack and play. By the time I'm done, the bassinet is probably faster and easier thanks to a REALLY SMART assembly system. As you can see in the second picture, each of the joints has a "tab" and "groove" system. If you try to assemble the legs in the wrong orientation, they won't snap together. It can take a second to figure out but the final product is going to be right. ... show more

My sister was hospitalized when she had her baby, so baby went to live with grandparents until momma came home. I got this for my brother-in-law so he could have the baby some days when he wasn’t at the hospital, and she had somewhere easy to sleep, since her other beds weren’t at his house. The bassinet was easy to set up and it’s big enough for baby plus other things you want to keep around baby, like extra blankets and burb clothes. Baby finds the waterproof cover cold and not as comfortable so we put another bassinet pad cover over it. I guess the only thing is that while this is designed for travel, and it’s a travel bed, it’s not a portable bassinet in the sense that you would just pick it up to move around the house with you. For that, I recommend a moses basket type bassinet with handles (BEST purchase ever). This is great for taking on trips / between houses, it’s easy to set up, pretty lightweight, and not huge. Good in a pinch. My sister had definite plans to not clutter her house with baby items, but, she never came home from the hospital so I’m afraid her house is going to get filled with baby items after all. ... show more

I really like this bassinet. I just wish it didn't wobble so much. It's feet kind of are angled out so I don't believe it would actually fall, I think it is just the design of it. Since it is designed for babies who are not yet rolling or doing much moving at all, I think it's great anyways. I really like that you can fold the fabric down over any parts at the top that are less visually appealing or maybe something you wouldn't want another little one chewing on as they look at the baby. It is all adequately padded too with what seems to be liquid-resistant material. This is very simple bassinet that is highly portable. It breaks down to a bag that is very thin and would be easy to store in the trunk of a car or closet, just about any where. First time assembly only took me 7 minutes and that was even with an oops! I forgot to slide the top bars in through the fabric - if you deduct that, it only took me 5 minutes. It is incredibly simple, no needing to hover over instructions. Disassembly was easy too! It took me 3 minutes my first time. It all goes back into the bag really easily, you can practically just throw it in there. It is so light weight too, comes with a decent sized strap so you can easily throw it over your shoulder as you're carrying baby and all their supplies. ... show more

Really nice travel bassinet. Unzip the bag, take out the main bassinet piece, fully open it and it will lock into place, insert the upper leg pieces, then snap the lower legs into the top leg pieces, unfold the mattress and velcro it into place. Super easy. Looks just like picture. Easy to break down and it slides right back into the storage bag with no real effort. Easy to move from room to room. The fitted sheet is machine washable. This product exceeded my expectations. First it was very EASY to set up. The directions were pretty straight forward. Probably took me 10 mins max! It is light weight so I am able to move it from room to room if needed. I also love that it comes with travel bag. We visit our in-laws a lot so this will definitely come in handy. My only complaint is that it is not as sturdy as I would like it to be. Other than that I think this a great product to have and I can’t wait to use it for my newborn baby! ... show more
