smoothest ratchet ever ... it's got less backdrag than SK , Gearwrench , Icon, Snap-on , MAC, and Matco among others. Great chroming, great fit and finish, a slender head in both dimensions all around a super nice ratchet. My only complaint is that the comfort grip isn't bigger, the comfort grip is about as girthy as a Snap-on chrome handle. Other features include a passthrough on the anvil so you don't need to hold the socket those times when the backdrag out weigh the friction of the ratchet (lol so probably not going to get used often), and a buttery smooth selector switch that is reverse of normal. I imaging that with use this ratchet will only get smoother with time. ... show more

This is my first Koken ratchet, and it won’t be the last. This ratchet exudes quality and feels great in the hand. Overall length is just under 7”, so it’s good for tight spaces.

Wanted to try a good Japanese ratchet so i got this. Internal mechanism is pretty neat and really close tolerances. Was a bit dry so I added a couple drops of 3in1 oil. Switch is easly to swing and mechanism has very little drag. Size is good for 9/16 or 14mm down. Handle is a bit wonky but actually feels nice loosening and tightening bolts. Finish is really nice and durable. I accidentally dropped a few times on rough concrete that has damaged cheaper made ratchets but saw no visible damage on this one. Only gripe is it's a bit heavy for its size. ... show more

I received the 72 tooth ratchet as other reviewers state. The hard plastic handle on Ko-ken ratchets seems more durable than soft grip from other ratchet brands. The backdrag is very low and this ratchet is very comfortable to use. A nice ratchet to get into small spots due to the small head design.

Smooth as butter after I put some white grease in it. They come dry. The only gripe I have is the switching lever is reversed. A perfect match for Koken sockets. No play at all.
