  • Very Good Quality Golfing Sunglasses
Style: Knockterra+ Lenses Color: Odyssey
Bought these sunglasses to replace my 3-year old Oakley Flak 2.0 golf sunglasses that were getting a few scratches on the lenses. While the Oakley lenses are replaceable, they run about $80 +/-. These Knockarounds were about $65 with a discount coupon and are a bit better than the Oakley's in that they make the colors 'pop' just enough to notice, without being annoyingly bright. The lenses are just a bit taller and wider than the Oakley's, but still fit my 'normal' size head/face just fine. Used them on the golf course and driving around for about 4 rounds of golf at this point and they will be my new 'go to' golf sunglasses. They came with a case and microfiber bag/cleaner. ... show more

  • WOW! Just WOW!
Style: Knockterra Lenses Color: Lava
No one expects to get an amazing pair of sunglasses without going someplace like Sunglass Hut or maybe, at a high end ski shop and I am not all that different. I expected something that would show wear within the year, if not from the blowing snow, from the general...err... knockaround of life. What arrived is simply NOT that AT All. I am wearing them as I type this because the optical clarity is extraordinary! There is zero optical distortion (and I looked! Often, one finds that the ends of the lenses are not quite as well made as the middle and that wasn't the case here) or defects in the mirroring --anywhere! The rubber on the nosepiece and the earpieces might as well be what some brand calls "Unobtainium" because it feels a certain way, like you KNOW they aren't going to slip no matter how much you sweat. The frame is not solid colored, it is more like a really dark crystal but it looks incredible with the orange/red mirror lenses. From the inside, the lenses are kind of a blue-grey color and the colors I see are so VIVID! These sunglasses are going to spend a lot of time on the slopes and some time skiing off piste so they need to be durable and they certainly feel that way even if they are not ANSI Z-87+, they just feel like they could be if they wanted to and that is how solid and durable these sunglasses feel. I love how the hinges snap to the two positions, this touch makes these glasses feel particularly well made; no plastic hinges that will fatigue and fail, while metal can fatigue, being more ductile, metal tends to simply get a little looser over time rather than fail outright when not under tension. Moreover, if you look from underneath, the pin on the hinges is an eyeglass screw which is something that can be replaced if need be. I wonder if the manufacturer offers replacement parts because it would be a tragedy if I sat on these, as I have on others, and needed an earpiece replaced and there was none to be had, they are that good. The left earpiece has the model name --Flight Paths-- molded in while the right earpiece has the manufacturer --Knockaround-- similarly molded. It is important to note that I can feel neither on my face and only saw them because of the way the light struck the frames. It is good that the manufacturer molded that information into the earpieces because --and I HAVE owned several pairs from THAT company, some, long before the company was sold-- otherwise, I feel quality that harkens back to the experience of that time when THAT company made their glasses in California. The glasses come in a nice and solid box that has a sticker showing the model inside. Inside, a pressure molded hard case contains the soft bag that doubles as a polishing cloth with the glasses inside. This is the sort of packaging that makes sense to me, packaging that protects the product in transit, packaging that causes people to go crazy when they first get a glimpse of it under wrapping paper! If you do not yet have a pair, ABSOLUTELY grab one, they are great glasses that could sell for much more than they do and you WILL NOT be disappointed. I look for the value in a product, that is, can I expect this product to last long enough to amortize the cost over a long enough period that the purchase becomes an objective no brainer, and these glasses feel like they have what it takes to go the distance. There is no greater compliment to the quality and value of a product than for an owner to purchase an identical model to hold in reserve and that is my plan. ... show more

  • Not the greatest
Style: Knockterra+ Lenses Color: Fairway
These glasses fit comfortably to the face, maybe two close. I bought them for golf, I tried them for several rounds but with the summertime humidity they constantly fog up. I have since put them up and will try again this fall. Not what I had expected. I purchased a pair of Sunglasses Rage sunglasses that fit over regular glasses. This keeps the the lenses away from the face and no fogging. Plus a third of the price for Knockabouts. ... show more

  • Good for enhancing colors, better to read review for details.
Style: Knockterra+ Lenses Color: Fairway
I originally chose these glasses because I am looking for a particular tint that is proving to be impossible to find. I was hoping these had a brownish tint to them as well, but in the end they are 100% amber. They are still the proper amber color, so I thought I would try them for my regular glasses, but alas- my eyes are extremely sensitive to light and these do not block much light at all. I was able to wear them when not in full sunlight and enjoy them (it was early in the morning when I started trying them out, so the sunlight was indirect- perhaps akin to overcast). I had also grabbed them specifically because they are NOT polarized. My husband asked about how it went, and then- even though they are the opposite of everything he looks for in glasses- asked if he should try them out while playing. Although he does not like the red tinted glasses, he was curious about the color enhancing claims. I told him to go for it. The rest of the review is his observations from playing, as well as his final feelings on them, as well as a few structural things I noticed on fit and so on. REGARDING COLORS: He said, "Whites and blues are clearly defined over greens, neon green and orange colors pop and are highlighted through these glasses. The non-polarized lenses are definitely a bonus for racket sports as it doesn't distort depth but it doesn't deal with glare as effectively as a trade off." I noted~ - While the lack of any brown to offset the amber makes things a bit too pink for my taste, the amber color is the ideal shade, which allows you (or more accurately me) to see colors more accurately. If they had a slight brown hint to them, I would consider the color to potentially be ideal. REGARDING WEAR-ABILITY: He said, "I sweat a lot and it fogs up like any other glasses; but I think it's coating helps a lot in dissipating it. The humidity clears up off it as soon as I pull them off my face." I noted~ - The glasses are pretty symmetrical. - They lay nearly flush with the table, with only the average twist deviation due to the folding of the arms. - They are far enough away from the face that my eyelashes did not brush against them- which is an issue with some glasses. - Overall, when wearing them, you do not have the feeling of wearing glasses. They are lightweight and do not touch your face in any aggravating places, they do not have any pressure points (in fact, if I recall correctly- I don't have them in hand at the moment- they are fairly flexible). - I forgot to test it, but they had the feel of another pair of glasses that I have which float. OVERALL TAKEAWAYS: Although he HATES any red color to his glasses, and these are the opposite of everything he prefers in glasses, he said, "I really like these glasses. At first the rose red tint threw me off but as I wore them the contrast they provided for ball to court surface was greatly appreciated. It was easier to track neon colored balls through the air as well, as those colors were highlighted vs the background. The white court lines were also well contrasted to see shot placement. Overall, great for intended use." I would like to note that nowhere does he mention the lack of light blocking, so it is possible that they provided enough coverage for him. I say, "If your eyes aren't overly sensitive, or you restrict them to more overcast days, they are a really functional pair of glasses to enhance your vision without cutting back too much on light." So, I guess they ended up being a win. ... show more
