Great gift for my husband for Father’s Day… Now he can tackle a few projects around the house that were a little more complicated. Getting both the small and large sizes means more options. The shape locks into place easily, and the shapers are sturdy.

Accurate and easy to use. Lock feature is good, I can easily cut out anything and fit perfectly, finished work look great.

This is one of those tools you never knew you needed until you had it. It has become very useful when I have needed to make unique cuts in projects, such as where I needed to board to fut flush against a cut stone wall. I really like this, but honestly think the 5 inch piece is pretty useless for my purposes as it is so short. I do wish this came in a longer length closer to 24 inches as I think that would be much more useful. The tool itself easily pushes against whatever it is you need to trace and gives you an accurate line that you can trace to for whatever purpose you might need. (In my case this is mostly to create unique cuts in wood projects). The locking function is handy as well so you not need to worry about bumping this and messing up any premeasured adjustments. As you get 2 pieces, I do think this is priced pretty well and definitely recommend this to anyone who is a DIY type person that will complete various jobs around the home or in a workshop.

I feel like this contour gauge is medium quality and the price reflects it. The contour pins are of course all plastic and the outer ones on each set I got were bent. They did include a couple extras which I guess I'll replace soon. Having learned to scribe all of my work for the past 30 years, this tool only comes into play when I have weird angles and shapes that would normally take me a couple of passes until I get close to the right shape, which can then be scribed perfectly...BUT I'm sure it will come in handy for some situations. Like the add says, these tools are very handy for repeating cuts if you don't have a template already made.

The all plastic set comes with both 5 an 10 inch units but the pins/scales are the same size on both units (they do provide a bag of spares in case of breakage). Because it is plastic you may not need to worry about scratching surfaces as much as with a metal unit but the plastic pins are a tad bulky compared to metal units so smaller jobs may still require use of thinner metal scales. For the home user these will likely fit all the want and need. Be careful when opening everything though as the tensioning screws fell out of both units while pulling them out of the bag but luckily I didn't loose them. The locking mechanism is a very nice touch.
