  • This subwoofer has a cherry finish
This subwoofer has met my expectations for a subwoofer. It was one of the very few subwoofers that I could find that had a cherry finish. The finish appears to be an adhesive plastic film, not real cherry, but you cannot really tell unless you check the surface up close. I bought this speaker to complete a 5.1 system. I had not obtained a subwoofer before because my main speakers were rated down to 20 Hz. I decided to add the subwoofer because I found the audio volume from my main speakers (purchased in the late 80's) dropped noticeably below 35 Hz when playing a low frequency test tone. I configured the subwoofer and AV receiver to phase the subwoofer in below 160 Hz and the performance of the subwoofer has been better than I had anticipated. I have put the subwoofer into "stand by" mode. I occasionally vary the volume level to experience the low frequency effects, but I usually return the volume level back to the original setting. One minor complaint is that the marks on the volume and low pass filter knobs are almost invisible so the levels are set mostly by ear. I noticed in some prior reviews that this subwoofer has had some reliability problems in the past, but that Klipsch has stated that these problems were limited to the early manufactured units and that the problem was fixed, so the later manufactured units should be more reliable. Hopefully, this is the case. I have noticed that Klipsch has discontinued this speaker line. Unfortunately, all of their current line of subwoofers have only black finishes. I did not want the black finish since all of my other speakers have cherry finishes, as does my entertainment center furniture. I would not have purchased a subwoofer with a finish other than cherry. ... show more

  • Floor Mounted Cannon!
Having an absurd amount of power (600w peak) is always a good way to get high performance at lower volume levels without straining. Needless to say, this thing has vast reserves of power, and you may even find yourself feeling slightly self-conscious when certain "bass events" hit late at night because you KNOW your neighbors hear it! You may have to work that out with them, but regardless, this delivers its end of the bargain bigly. Very clean, tight bass and sturdy construction, and distinctive good looks. I wouldn't dream of keeping the screen on, it's too much fun admiring the copper-spun woofer. I've been rediscovering some of my favorite movies with this and hearing sub notes (not just big hits) that I never noticed before with my previous 12"/300w Polk sub.... ... show more

  • Yes, buy it.
Listening to it right now with Yes' Siberian Khatru w/ Chris Squire's bass going strong. Sounds great, and I'm in the next room on the computer! My Yamaha Aventage amp wanted to call my Klipsch RB-61's "large" speakers, which muddied the bass response overall. I manually re-set the front/surround speakers to "small" on the amp so the subwoofer takes over more of the work. The Klipsch subwoofer is much "punchier" than my old, 10" Polk sub. I still use it, in the other corner of the living room, and overall it sounds really good. Also pleased my wife, as this is one of the few subs that have a "Cherry" finish, which matches my RB-61's. You can't go wrong with this sub. ... show more

  • Updated 9/2019
I had to turn the gain down to about 3 (out of 11) just to keep the other side of the house from vibrating. Currrently, I have another R-112sw behind the TV (cornered) and this R-112sw in the rear of the room. The unit arrived in a unmarked cardboard box (except UPS info) with the actual Klipsch box fit within. The Klipsch box looked brand new, untouched; the sub did as well. Ordered with 2-day shipping with Prime, but got it next day. Great job OneCall/Huppins. I feel sorry for the neighbors. Update September 2019. If you search this model of Klipsch Subwoofer R-112SW, you will see issues people are having with regards to intermittent power loss. That is what I am experiencing now. It appears to be remedied by unplugging/plugging unit thus resetting the speaker. Power loss is exacerbated by high volume (big action movies) - which now makes this speaker almost useless. This sub was great while it lasted. ... show more

  • Great Bass, sharp looking unit
I got this on sale for about $150 less than the Black version, which was great because I like the Cherry better anyway. Set up/connection is easy. I use the RCA cable to the subwoofer output on my Yamaha HTR. Just turn the back dial to the LFE setting on the sub, and then use your HTR menu to set up the sub audio output placement and levels. You can use the volume control on the back of the sub to tweak the final setting. I like to feel the bass thunder during movie playback, and this definitely makes the windows rattle! ... show more

  • Meh, it's decent...
A lot of the reviews on here are a bit much. After reading the all I was expecting a lot more, in reality this is a pretty average subwoofer. I had a puny 8 in sub before I bought this a few days ago. After hooking it up to my home theater I popped in a few bass heavy action movies and waited...and waited...and waited. It was definitely better than my time 8 inch sub...can be "felt" on the other side of the house...but to be honest I feel like this sub lacks a little bit. It's not bad by any means, it's just...not as heavy as you'd expect after reading these reviews. Thought about returning the sub but not worth the effort seeing as this thing weighs 60 pounds. All that being said I would recommend this to a friend...but I would say to key your expectations realistic. ... show more

  • Great bass. Easy to control. Love the bluetooth option
It gives great base for music or movies. The controls work as expected. I bought the blue tooth connector, and it was the easiest set up ever. I wish the prices were lower on both the speaker and blue tooth adapter, but I paid and I'm happy. I can't speak to the durability as it's only been a few weeks, but fingers crossed, I'm banking on the name and cost. ... show more

  • Much More than just boom.
I'm used to dual r115sw in my home theater. I purchased this for low end for my rb-81 ii's stereo setup. Far exceeded my expectations, in output, articulate and asthetics. Thanks klipsch, I own more that 20 of your products and plan to own the palladiums one day.
