Format: Kiss Land [Explicit]

Description

The 2013 release from the Canadian artist and producer is now available on seaglass colored vinyl with deluxe packaging. Kiss Land follows up his unanimously celebrated platinum-selling 2012 debut, Trilogy. Tapping into that same signature mystique, this second effort is an elegant pastiche of love, longing, and lust set to a futuristic soundtrack of shimmering keys, disruptive synths, and airy atmospherics. It's dark. It's dangerous. It's decidedly sexy. It's The Weeknd.

    • A criminally underrated album
I've listened to abel for about six years now but haven't really gotten into his music in depth until recently but now I realize that I was missing out. Kiss land is unlike any other album I've heard and creates such a unique atmosphere. In an interview abel describes kiss land as a world inspired by tour and the places outside of his home in Toronto that he's made up. It supposed to be new and more spacious than Trilogy which is evident in his exploration lyrically and sonically. Upon the first few listens, this album may seem one dimensional and like all the songs sound the same but with time and some investigation into the lyrics, its clear that he is telling a story. (one that he says that no one should be able to relate to as a whole since it is a world he created himself.) If you haven't already, I highly suggest watching the music videos that he put out with this album (especially belong to the world. its one of his best videos but is also one of the least watched on his channel.) I also think that these songs can be hard to listen to when not together, but if you listen to them as an album, they're very cohesive and piece together perfectly. As far as the quality of the vinyl goes, the color is gorgeous and the packaging is so well throughout! I listened to it all the way through and it skipped one word during the town but besides that, it is honestly better sounding than the majority of other vinyls I've bought in the past. If you haven't listened to kiss land or haven't listened to it in depth, you're missing out. (my favorite tracks include belong to the world, pretty, tears in the rain, the town and adaptation but they're all amazing.) ... show more

    • Works and looks as expected
Awesome seaglass color and awesome album. Works as expected. My only complaint is the outside cover is too thick and it doesn't fit in an outer record sleeve even though it is made for single and double. You kind of have to use the outside cover as an outer sleeve an hope it doesn't cause ring ware.

    • Beautiful vinyl
The seaglass color/transparency is stunningly beautiful and is in the top 5 of my collection. The album speaks for itself, so this review is specifically about the vinyl quality. Both discs are heavy 180 gram vinyl, but they may not have had the best pressing. I've cleaned both vinyl and I've used my anti-static brush on them, but there's constant popping while listening to them. This doesn't happen with any of my other vinyl besides Tool's "Lateralus" which are picture discs and have incredibly terrible popping sound (sadly a known defect with the pressing). Still, I'd highly recommend purchasing this and adding it to your collection as the sound is still beautiful if you can get past the popping. ... show more
