I've seen some reviews stating that the ring is not titanium. The one I received appears to be. I carefully calculated the density of the ring using table sugar and a tablespoon to determine the volume of the ring. I performed the test 3 times and came up with 4.26, 4.44, and 4.53 g/cm³. The density of Ti is about 4.4-4.5 g/cm³ depending on the alloy. My tablespoon and scale are by no means the most accurate, so the low end result doesn't concern me. Also, titanium will not scratch glass, but will leave a dark raised mark if drawn firmly across glass. The ring passed this test as well. If you do this just make sure you pick a spot on the glass that doesn't matter because the mark has to be removed with acid I believe. Also, don't use the brushed area of the ring as it might damage the texture. Titanium will also produce a lot of white sparks if ground, but I didn't want to damage my ring and I'm satisfied that it's real Ti. It's impossible for me to say what alloy it is, but it's most likely grade 4 or 5 as they're the most common. 4 is a bit cheaper I think so that would be my guess. One final note as I've seen a lot of people complaining about the rings scratching. Titanium is known for scratching easier, especially compared to other common "modern" ring materials like cobalt or tungsten carbide. For me that's just part of the character of Ti, which I happen to enjoy for its light weight durability, and more dull gray color compared to other metals. It's really not that Ti scratches easier necessarily, but that they are more visible due to the oxidation layer/patina that forms on the surface of Ti. A "scratch" is often just the oxidation being scraped off. The good news is that Ti is pretty easy to touch up and re-create the uniform surface. A quick google search will show you how.

The media could not be loaded. My husband and I both love his wedding band! It does scratch a little easier than tungsten but we chose Titanium because tungsten is too fragile.
