Pros: Great little saddle for the price. Leather is supple, not shiny or brittle like I expected for the price range. The over all appearance is nice and so is the hardware. Saddle came with nice quality billet and latigo strap. Nylon backing on the stirrups is great and the back cinch is nice quality. Fleecing on the underside is nice as well. Cons: Stirrups are plastic molds wrapped in rawhide but could be really replaced. The rawhide on this saddle looks nice but is very thin and wouldn't do well if it got wet. It could tear really. The dot brads on the saddle were haphazardly applied, loose and even had a few missing. I reapplied and tightened the ones that were there and they should hold now. Overall very happy with the 10" saddle for the price I paid ($250) and will be a great fit for my young kids. If you were looking for an adult or if the saddle would be put under hard riding like barrel racing, I would spend the extra money on a higher quality saddle as I'm not sure how it would stand up to stress, mostly the stirrups and tree. But this saddle is a very eye appealing first saddle, for showing, for youth, or light riding. Much better than I expected for the price. ... show more

    • Great value - solid trail riding saddle

I would have given 5 stars but the lariats (front and rear cinch straps) are way too short for a horse, as is the included cinch, soI had to replace them. They may be intended for a pony, but then the saddle would be too wide to fit properly, so I'm not sure. Regardless, the quality of the leather and workmanship, especially for the money, is quite surprising and quite good. The stirrup adjusters are very durable and the leather flanks are thick. The strap rings are well anchored and the horn and cantle are more solid than expected (though I would not advise roping with this saddle). It's a pretty saddle and my daughter is thrilled. She's a lanky 8 year-old, and is quite comfortable in this saddle, and there is ample room for growth in the stirrups. She noted that she feels more confident in this saddle than the last because of the way the dish cradles her. We purchased a 13" and it is not too big, so these saddles may run a bit small. Still, what we got is great for her and she will grow with this for at least 5+ years. ... show more
