I love this. It's not as high as the picture might suggest (I think it's only 2 feet tall) but it works for us and our smallish rooms. I purchased two, one for m 3 year old and one for my 5 year old. They were mostly easy to put together. For the first one, the back panel is supposed to go on last but the holes were not aligned. We redid the slanted side boards thinking that maybe something wasn't screwed in tight enough but that didn't fix the problem. So for both we ended up putting the backboard on after the slanted side boards and then finished with the top two pieces (directions say to do the backboard last). It still wasn't perfectly flush but it works. With all of the furniture I've put together I have yet to have one where every corner and piece is completely flush and where it is supposed to be. The wood seems durable; stronger than some Target/Walmart pieces I've purchased. The cushion has a zipper all around so it can be washed. I'll probably air dry it because I'm paranoid about these shrinking in the dryer. It actually fits more books than I thought it would. The lower cubbies don't fit our tall, full sized books but the top books fit all of them and we have a lot of books. Pictured is my 5 year old. So it is the 40' measurement. And the tools to build it suck took over 3 hours to build and broke 3 tools l. But all said and done did exactly what I wanted it to!

I really do love this product! It was easy enough to put together, but definitely worth reading the instructions. The cubicles are not that big, so small to medium size books are ideal. If you do have big books, they are worth laying down flat or placing on the side.

Whatever your religion is seriously get on your knees and pray for patience before you start. Got this for my 5 and 3 year old for Christmas. It was on sale. Lets start by saying I wish I would have read the reviews. Lets start with the building part. They dont differentiate in the pictures which sides are the brown sides and which are the white sides so after it was together I had to paint over the brown parts to match the library because it assembled wrong. Then I got about 2/3 of the way through and realized the screws were really made from Satan himself. They are supposed to just easily go inside and turn the bolt to hold it in place. Ha. Haha. Hahaha to this. 3.5 hours before I gave up and used wood glue to make sure it is stable enough. Then when you assemble the VERY last step, you realize the bolt and screw they give you do not work on a SLANTED wood piece. 2 bolts stripped because you cant get the screw into the bolt because of the angle. So Idk what Im going to do about this because its very unsturdy. On top of it it just turns to dust when youre building it. Seriously dust everywhere from the wood just being cheap as ever. It took me and my boyfriend (a construction worker) 4 hours to finish this piece of crap. It definitely will not fit my 5 year old and theres no way my 3 year old is relaxing comfortably on it. Save your money or look for something that has better reviews. I would 100% return it if I didnt paint it (which I was doing when my bf realized the screws dont work). And it will only hold maybe 10 large books. So if you have a big library for your kids good luck. ... show more

I honestly love this little piece of furniture in my daughter's room. She is 4 going on 5 and fits in it perfectly. It's the perfect size. The cubbies are a tad bit smaller than I would like but I found the perfect wicker baskets to fit inside. They fit the perfect amount of books and she sits in the little chair and eats her snacks, plays with her toys, or watches her tablet videos. It's a good sturdy heavy quality. While this item seemed absolutely wonderful for my 2.5 year old, just the right size (for her as well as her tall and short books alike), I have to give 3 stars. That might even be generous. The brand new item (ordered in white) came with black finger print smudges all over the pieces. There was smeared adhesive glue and even a few nicks and dings...all from the manufacturer. I am so disappointed at the quality assurance at Kidcraft, I will definitely rethink before buying one of their products in the future. On top of this, one important piece of hardware was not included, making the shelf unstable and unusable. The instructions were pretty straight forward...it took me about an hour+ to assemble all but the last 3 pieces (minus the time I spent looking for the missing hardware piece. I assembled all but the last 2 pieces. I will say, the little number stickers used to identify the pieces were a PAIN to get off. Some didn't come off fully. I used the back of one of the mangled stickers I peeled up to repeatedly press on top of the sticky residue until most of it came up, and repeated with each sticker thereafter (you could use some packing tape too I bet). I'd give fewer stars, but Amazon was quick to come to my assistance and offer a full, hassel free refund. I'm thankful for this. Perhaps my experience was a fluke and the quality of their products is usually better... ... show more

We’ve bought a KidKraft products in the past/been happy with them and this one did not disappoint! Easy to assemble by myself, all you need outside of what’s included in the box is a screwdriver. It feels sturdy and I especially like that the cushions are connected with Velcro to attach to the bookcase. We own a similar bookcase made by a competitor & their 3 separate cushions for the reading nook are always slipping all over the place if not falling off when my kiddos attempt to sit on them. My only complaint is that the 4 lower shelves are on the shorter side, but the 2 larger shelves on either side of the reading nook are tall enough to accommodate all of our larger hardcover books so it works for us! ... show more
